Hello and welcome once again to Top Kek, your one-stop shop for the best (and dumbest) of the internet this week. I’ll be out next week for work-related travel, but I’m with you this week to share a few important items.
3/16/17: White House Press Briefing
This week, the Trump administration’s “budget blueprint” was rolled out, to the dismay and chagrin of my Facebook friends list. In Thursday’s press briefing, White House Press Secretary and professional madman Sean Spicer introduces Budget Director Mick Mulvaney, who uses the opportunity to give the press a savage smackdown.
Blaire White—10 Media Lies You Probably Believed
Conservative trans woman Blaire White exposes just ten of the myriad acts of deception and division perpetrated by the corporate mainstream media.
Styxhexenhammer666—The Rich Lefties Show Fake Sympathy, but the New Right Shows Empathy
Styx (who deserves congratulations, as he hit 100k followers this week) sums up the difference between the Obama/Clinton left and the rising “Trumpist” right.
Styxhexenhammer666—Wilders (Predictable) Loss is Still a Major Increase for Populism
Styx had a good week, and in this video, he discusses the Dutch election and the unsurprising loss by Geert Wilders of the conservative Partij voor de Vrijheid (PVV). This loss has been greeted by the media as the death of populism, but PVV now holds twenty seats in the Dutch Parliament, which puts the party in second for number of seats.
Geert Wilders—Islam, Brexit, Trump, Refugees, Theresa May, Gays
In this enlightening minute-long video, we learn just a bit about Wilders himself, who has conceded his loss and promised to be a thorn in the side of the Dutch PM. Wilders’ one-page manifesto serves as the platform for PVV, and includes problematic content, including the banning of headscarves in public places, as well as the banning of the Quran, but his attitude toward Islam as an ideology is far removed from his attitude toward average Muslims. (Note: This video is not from this week, but I believe it is worth seeing Wilders for who he is, rather than for what the media says he is.)
LBC—Nigel Farage Interviews Marine Le Pen
In this interview with Nigel Farage for LBC, French presidential candidate and Front Nationale leader Marine Le Pen shares her views on immigration, the EU, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Theresa May, among many other topics. The interview is forty minutes long, but fascinating, and without irony, I must state that #ImWithHer.
Donald Trump ignores handshake request from Angela Merkel
On Friday, President Trump and German Chancellor Angela Merkel had their first meeting at the White House. In addition to a joint press conference, in which Trump reiterated his position on immigration (that it is a privilege, not a right), the two leaders met in the Oval Office for a photo op, which lead to this truly bizarre moment, in which the reporters clamor for a handshake; Merkel requests one, as well, but Trump simply ignores her. “Send a good picture back to Germany, please.”
Half-German YouTuber RageAfterStorm is not happy about Angela Merkel’s “leadership,” and in this video she pulls no punches. Because the Schengen visa program allows a visa-holder for any country to enter any other EU state, Merkel’s poor judgment in allowing so many refugees to enter her own country has caused shockwaves throughout the continent.

That’s all I’ve got for this week; thank you once again for joining me for Top Kek! I’ll see you in two weeks, but in solidarity with our European friends, I bring to you this very important message, found on Reddit’s r/The_Donald, which is always an excellent source of news and laughs.

Giovanni Martelli

Giovanni Martelli is a twenty-something, left-leaning, anti-war/anti- corruption activist, living in Fort Collins, Colorado. She enjoys traveling (her favorite destination being Florence, Italy), collecting and playing unusual string instruments, and studying foreign languages. She wholeheartedly supports President Donald J. Trump in part because of his efforts to make good on his campaign promises, and in part because it deeply annoys her liberal friends. Praise Kek, all day, every day; meme magic is real.
