Special to L. Neil Smith’s The Libertarian Enterprise
One of the complaints against Jordan Peterson is the allegation that he encouraged suicide. Apparently Peterson said that a terrestrial population of 9.5 billion was sustainable. Someone replied that overpopulation was a threat to the ecosystem. Jordan allegedly replied on Twitter that “You’re free to leave at any point.” Encouraging suicide? Really? What a lack of imagination! It seems obvious to me that Peterson was encouraging the person to get involved in space travel and space colonization. The person is free to leave for L-5, for Earth’s moon, for Ceres, for Ares. There is currently the slight problem of a lack of transportation and housing, but Twitter owner Elon Musk and others are working on that lacuna. And it would be easier for them if governments — including the Ontario College of Psychologists — would get out of their way.
In This Issue
L. Neil schools a critic on how to read the Constitution.
The government schools are hemorrhaging students and competent teachers. Kerry McDonald shows budding education entrepreneurs how to take advantage of it.
And Sean Gangol introduces us to a promising writer.

Why have so many liberals given up on free speech? It used to be that liberals were in favor of free speech, and conservatives opposed to it. Now, that has flipped almost completely. Does it depend on whose ox is gored? If so, then L. Neil Smith is right, that libertarians have become America’s last and only reliable stewards of the Bill of Rights. And it is a shameful default.

The Campaign to Reeducate Jordan Peterson Will Actually Hurt Canada’s Thought Police It couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of people. This will also hurt occupational licensing (which point the American Spectator article misses entirely). Jordan Peterson responds to the College: I will risk my licence to escape social media re-education. I notice, however, that the actual 50+ page collation of the complaints against Peterson has been pulled.
Anti-Gunners Should be Careful What They Wish For, by the inimitable David Codrea. It’s nice to see points made by L. Neil Smith and other libertarians pop up elsewhere.
