Editor's Notes

Well, here it is! A compendium of your favorite articles from TLEs past. I'm pleased to say that my personal favorite was included without my having to rig the contest <grin> and in fact garnered the most votes to come in as the hands-down winner:

Live Free or Die: How Many More Carl Dregas?
by Vin Suprynowicz
TLE #39: June 26, 1998

So, I guess I'm not the only person who found this to be perhaps the finest of Vin's efforts, and deserving of any and all awards bestowed on it.

Please note: under the title of each article herein appears the original issue information and URL, for those who wish to mark these articles for archive purposes or for those who might wish to forward them to 'deserving' recipients.

There are two articles that received votes that I did not print, the former for space reasons and the latter for technical reasons, i.e. it really isn't a TLE article, but anchors Neil's own web page. I have reprinted their titles, sources, and URLs below -- they did get votes and should be considered, albeit in a special category:

You Can't Fight a Culture War If You Ain't Got Any Culture
by L. Neil Smith [email protected]
TLE #28: May 15, 1997

and

Why Did It Have to be ... Guns?
by L. Neil Smith [email protected]
http://www.lneilsmith.org//index.html

To those of you who took the time to vote, we thank you. We may try out similar ideas in the future, and we hope you will continue to participate in, enjoy, and support us as we lead TLE toward the 21st century.

Freedom!
