Locked, Loaded, & Lost To Us

In Memoriam

I received the following e-mail message from Chris Goodwin on Tuesday last:

Greg,

Do you mind if I forward your note on to the editor of The Libertarian Enterprise? Mark wrote a few pieces for that publication, and the one that John Posthill mentioned was there.

If you want to send it on to him yourself, his e-mail address is [email protected]

All:

Many of you knew Mark Penman. I am very saddened to say that he took his life on July 2.
Mark had been dealing with depression for quite a while.
Regretfully, depression won out.

Mark was a good friend of mine. He was instrumental in getting me actively involved with the political aspect of firearms back in the early 90s. He was the one that got me into NCCDA and he was the one who nominated me for the board of NCCDA, I haven't forgiven him for that one yet :). He turned me on to the writings of Thomas Sowell, Frederic Bastiat and many other excellent writers. I will miss his sharp intellect and his "interesting" writing style.

Please keep him and his family in your thought and prayers.

There will be a short memorial service tomorrow, July 10, 7 PM at St. Catherine Catholic Church. 520 W. Holding Ave., Wake Forest, NC. Phone # 570-0070.

Shalom,

Greg Rogers

I had maintained an e-mail correspondence with Mark for several years. Periodically I would lose track of him as his e-mail changed, or his wonderful website, "Laissez Firearms" moved from home to home.

Sadly, I never had the opportunity to meet Mark face-to-face, to shake his hand, and to thank him for sharing his talent with us all.

He will be missed. But I'm reasonably sure that, in whatever alternate reality he exists, in whatever state, he is surely
