General Cowardice
by William Stone, III
Pre-Bloody Tuesday (September 11), I used to really enjoy talk radio. I loved to listen to Republican hosts like Rush Limbaugh. In fact, I owe Limbaugh something of a debt: had I not listened to him at the time I did, I wouldn't be a libertarian today.

Iraq, Regime Change and Divine Right

Conservative Christians have come to resemble their liberal counterparts when it comes to politics.

A Theory
by Rezin Downing
I have this theory. But I'm going to keep it to myself until something else has been said. We are people that should be open to new ideas and new ways of thinking. We are people who, for most of our adult lives, have not fit in to what the rest of the country calls normal thought. Our views of politics and people's rights, the Constitution and many other subjects place us in the minority.

Columbian Exposition And ... Turkey?
by Lowell Potter
So anyway, I just went out to burn one -- a cigarette -- and I was thinking as I looked skywards into the dark freezing rain, "Damned good thing those clowns at NASA aren't raining their shiat down over here!" Word is on the internet that burning shiat was raining down on, of all places, ... get this, ... Palestine, Texas! There are so many ironies attendant to this failure, it is pathetic.

Moving Forward - But To Where?
by Thomas Andrew Olson
As I write this, over 1500 square miles of Texas countryside are being scoured for remnants of the shuttle Columbia. A special ceremony in Houston, today, focused our nation's grief for those lost souls and their families. President Bush and NASA officials solemnly declared that their lives were not sacrificed in vain; that we'll find the causes of the disaster, fix them, and "move forward", as those who risked it all to push humanity's boundaries would have wished.

The Shuttle Rescue That Wasn't
by Jim Davidson
Tonight, 4 February 2004, ABC News carried two very interesting news stories. A former Challenger Commission member called NASA shuttle managers professionally irresponsible for failing to task ground telescopes to examine the underside of Columbia. Afterward, a series of interviews purported to establish that the Columbia could not have been brought into an orbit near the space station, and that there was no choice but to send seven astronauts to their fiery doom.

Many Things Were Missing From The Rosenthal Trial
by Fully Informed Jury Association
More than facts were missing from the Federal Courtroom where Ed Rosenthal was tried and convicted last week. An informed jury was missing, and had been carefully excluded during the process of jury selection. The federal prosecutor and judge winnowed out 68 prospective jurors in order to gather in 12 people who would bend to the will of the prosecutor. No one advised these twelve people of their power to judge the application of the law as well as the facts of the case in their deliberations. No one told them that they must carry their conscience and their view of justice into the jury room.

The Cheating Heart
by Wendy McElroy
Adultery is in the news again due to the murder-by-Mercedes trial of Clara Harris, who allegedly ran over her adulterous husband three times after discovering him with another woman. What is adultery? How many of us "cheat," why is it wrong, and what should be done about it?
