BOHICA!

From Neal Knox's "Firearms Coalition's Alerts" newsletter:

Gunowners around the country are steaming that the White House said last week that Pres. Bush supports re-enactment of the prohibition against so-called "assault weapons" and over-10-round magazines.

There's been no retraction, but no additional noise from either NRA or the White House.

A White House spokesman, Scott McClellan, told a Knight-Ridder reporter: "The president supports the current law, and he supports reauthorization of the current law."

I've seen nothing else in the press except an almost-invisible note in last Saturday's Washington Post, citing the Knight-Ridder report.

Both my wife and I fly quite a lot separately in our work, and when she first mentioned to me how airport security personnel were deliberately harassing her on her flights, I took it with a grain of salt. When I fly, no security people ever look at me twice and I'm over 6'2" and 210 pounds.

Read Ron Holland's article "Meet My Wife Tami — 'A Domestic Terrorist'" about her travails at a regional airport.

DEATHLESS PROSE

Got MSS?[*]

"They think we are retarded — they are retarded."

"Yesterday, we slaughtered them and we will continue to slaughter them."

"... they are nowhere (pause) ... they are nowhere, really."

"We blocked them inside the city. Their rear is blocked.">>

IT'S HARD TO KNOW WHOM TO DESPISE MORE

The Bush administration has blamed the return of deficits on lingering effects of the 2001 recession and the costs of fighting terrorism at home and abroad. Democrats say a major cause of the red ink has been Bush's 10-year $1.35 trillion tax cut and what they contend are bad economic policies being pursued by the administration.
