Is Our Government Destroying Our Country?

At first glance, this may seem like a silly question. After all, how could our government destroy our country? Well, let's just take a look.

In the 1940's, the United Nations and NATO were formed with the express purpose of A) preventing any future wars (UN), and B) successfully fighting a war against the Soviet Union (NATO). The UN has failed miserably in it's purpose. It is an organization that is trying to gather too many different aims and goals in one body. Seeing that it has failed, the bureaucrats at the UN have subtly changed it's purpose to enable it to become a one-world government. Almost every major UN congress, organization, and body has issued statements that, taken alone, SEEM admirable. Taken together, they are ominous. Even MORE ominously, our congresscritters, with very few exceptions, seem to be going along with this. Think I"m exaggerating? Take a look at how many of our National Parks are no longer national parks. At the entrance of over 30 of our national parks, the signs say "You are entering an international biodiversity zone". What this means is that our congresscritters have said that the UN has the right to over-ride our (American) decisions on how to use those parks. Theoretically, the UN could say that tourism is causing too much damage to the ecosystem, and totally forbid Americans from visiting their own parks. This is just a very small example of how our government is gradually surrendering our sovereignty to the UN. Another is that our government has allowed a foreign government to establish a military presence on our soil. I do NOT KNOW if this is still going on, but at one point, while Slick Willy was in office, the German Air Force had a "permanent" presence in New Mexico. In other words, a German fighter squadron was to be based on our soil, for no apparent reason that I can see.

In another instance, the US Supreme Court used foreign courts to justify it's ruling on homosexual marriage. I believe that they ruled correctly, since moral issues, such as "sin" are outside the purview of the court, however, the Supreme Court takes an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, not the rulings of foreign courts.

All of this would be heinous enough, but our government taxes us, directly, indirectly, and through increased business costs CAUSED by taxation, at a level that is nothing short of monstrous. AT LEAST 75% of everything that you earn goes to cover the costs of taxation. I don't know about you, but I can't see what government does that makes them think that they can have 75% of MY MONEY. All of us know that the cost of living has grown to the level that most families have to have two incomes just to survive. This is a direct result of government taxation and interference with business.

As a result of this, children are growing up without adult supervision. The parents are so busy working to survive that they don't have the time OR the energy to properly teach their children. This has led to a full generation of young people who do not understand or even know what proper behaviour is. Why do you THINK juvenile crime is skyrocketing as a percentage of over-all crime?

As our population ages, there are less workers to pay for the Social Security benefits of the elderly. Government has promised to care for us all, and there is NO WAY this can be done. Unless there is a major re-adjustment in our society, our families, and our thinking, this issue alone is enough to destroy our society.

One more issue, and then I will close for the present: our public schools are deliberately NOT teaching our children the history of our country, and why it is important to constantly oversee the daily activities of government. When my children were going to school in Columbus, OH, the school system decided to stop honoring Veteran's Day, in order to observe MLK day. While MLK was a historically important personage, arguably one of the most important in the last 40 years, I do not see that he outweighs millions of veterans who have fought and died for our country. In addition, when teaching about the founding of our country, I discovered that the schools never even COVERED Patrick Henry's famous speech, never mentioned that it was ORDINARY PEOPLE, tired of government intrusion in their lives, that won us our independence. Instead, EVERY teacher concentrated on the wealth of many of our Founding Fathers, and that many of them were slave owners. While it was never explicitly stated, to my knowledge, the implication was that the Revolution was for the purposes of the wealthy elite. This reminds me of the way the histories have changed the Civil War (War of Northern Aggression) to a high moral crusade against slavery, when slavery even at the time, was only an excuse.
