Remember: You are the most powerful force in history!

Unmitigated Gall

I believe that America is at a turning point. This election year is rapidly assuming critical importance as a defining factor in our country's history, and it's future.

I am open about my political views, to the extent that many people will now talk to me, trying to find out exactly what it is that I, as a libertarian, believe. What I have found out is that very few want Bush back in office. However, they want a liberal 'tax and spend' democrat even less, even though many of them admit they don't really see much difference between the two of them. As I have done in my articles here, and on the TLE groups message board, I tell them to look at other candidates. I always get the 'wasting your vote' argument, which was the impetus for writing that article for TLE #270.

The Republican party is rapidly discovering that they can no longer rely on the votes of those they have used and betrayed for years. I, and many others that I know of, have replied to their fund raising letters and e-mails with reasons why I will not support the Republican party in any way, shape, or form. Chief among these is the incredible arrogance of pandering to gun owners, then immediately betraying them at the first opportunity. Another is the unmitigated gall of campaigning on a platform of smaller government, then increasing the size of government by over 25%, all the while trying to divert the attention of the people with the 'terrorist problem'.

If it was solely a choice between Kerry and Bush, my choice would be 'none of the above'. Actually, I would rather see Neil in office, as the leader of the Bill of Rights Party (re: Hope), or even a new "Mind your own damned business party!"

I think that in this election year, for the first time, we actually have a chance to make a significant difference. If we can motivate even 5 to 10 per cent of the voters to actually vote libertarian, we will send shock waves through the political landscape that will resonate for years to come.

I know many libertarians who refuse to vote, for various reasons, and I respect their choice and decision. However, right now, we are stuck with voting as the only peaceful alternative to a civil war that no one really wants, but which all of us see coming, if there is no change in the policies and practices of the two branches of the National Socialist Party.

Most, if not all, of the problems currently besetting our country could be resolved in very short order, if we could reduce or eliminate government altogether. If we could even just get government to follow it's own damned rules as laid out in the Bill of Rights, that would make a major change in the world political situation, not just the American!

Unfortunately, none of this is going to happen, unless we make our voices heard, and in our current society, the only way to do that is to vote. Remember, politicians, with very few exceptions, are thieves, who want to keep on robbing, so they don't have to actually do any work. That is why many are so adamant about gun control and the assault weapons ban. They know that if the American people ever fully realized how sincerely evil most of them are, that many trees would have new fruit dangling from them. Other than fear, the ONLY things that most politicians care about are money, and votes, since these represent the things they need to stay in office and to keep on stealing.

If enough people vote libertarian, a cold chill of fear will start to make the rounds, and we will gradually see reforms. Will it be enough? I don't know, since only one time in history has any people thrown off this level of tyranny without a violent revolution. Can we be the second? I hope so.
