Special thanks to WG of Chicago for his generous donation. We do
appreciate it, and yes, it came in handy.
Independence Day. I was hoping we'd have some special announcements
but we don't seem to. Still. "And so it goes ...."
As always, please send any and all of our articles to any person or
place you think they would do some good. Thanks!

Last week, we examined the fallacious statement that "the American
people will never stand for in indefinite state of war" by having a
short overview of the facts of the history of war and undeclared war
in our nation's history. This week we are going to discuss the brain dead statement: "We live
in a free country, don't we?"

They call themselves Democrats. They're not, at least not in the
tradition of the Democratic Party of a century ago. The call
themselves Liberals. They're not, at least not in the tradition of
real classic liberals like John Locke, Thomas Paine, David Hume,
Edmund Burke, Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin. They call
themselves "Progressives." They're not, unless you understand that
"Progressive" is a code word they have adopted to cover their real
agenda.

This summer, my parents are celebrating their Golden Wedding
Anniversary. An event of this magnitude requires a celebration of
course, and I'll travel back home to be there for the festivities.
While I've been preparing for my upcoming trip, I've noticed that a
few things have changed since 1954 (not that I was there then, mind
you - I'm sure Mom would like me to make that clear). Obviously, the
technological advances in the last fifty years have been awesome as
have the corresponding improvements in the quality of life. But
other things haven't gotten better, and it's those that have
particularly struck me in recent days.

The press is reporting it as a loss for the White House.
And to be sure, Bush and Rumsfeld didn't get all they wanted when
the Supreme Court handed down its Hamdi v. Rumsfeld decision.

I'd like to take some time to write a few words to Christians who
may be frustrated with the course of events in this country,
concerned for the future, and disillusioned with the increasingly
authoritarian bent of the Republican Party. Specifically, I'd like
to encourage you to consider an alternative that may have been
heretofore unknown or else unthinkable to you.
I'd like to encourage you to consider the libertarian alternative.

"Do you hear that?" Caroline asked.
"What?" replied Jeffrey.
"The cardinal. There." Caroline jabbed a finger towards the sill of
the front window. "Isn't he just great?"

Bad news for atheists: divine prophecy has come thundering across
the front pages of the Satanic State's newspapers like the Four
Horsemen of the Apocalypse. For as your good Kaptain was perusing
one of the local statist periodicals this week, he came upon a
"human interest" article about that wonderful, new "technology that
cares", the VeriChip™. You can forget about national identity
cards; that's too low-tech for Beelzebub and his minions.

Wal-Mart is
facing the largest class action lawsuit ever been brought against a
private company. As many as 1.6 million women may join the suit and
the possible pay-out could exceed $1 billion dollars. What are class
action lawsuits, and why have they become so prominently in the news?
