Letter from MamaLiberty (a.k.a. Susan Callaway) with reply from DataPacRat My Black Armband I am writing this letter on Sunday the 11th of September, 2011. This week will end on Saturday 17th of September, 2011. This week extends from the anniversary of 9/11 to Constitution Day. By law, since this week ends on Constitution Day, schools in Texas will celerate Freedom Week. Social Studies teachers at all grade levels will be required to teach the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and love of the freedom these documents are meant to express and defend. But first we will take time to mourn the dead of 9/11. I do mourn these people, I mourn their deaths, I honor those who died bravely, heroically trying to save others. I believe it really was Al Qaeda that attacked us, I also believe that it was pay back for supporting Israel and the El Saud family, among other injustices perceived or real. I also believe it was fueled by hatred against the US for contaminating their culture with our material goods and political ideals and resentment of our hypocrisy in living (or rater in failing to live up to) those ideals. They do hate us for our freedom, and for hogging and betraying that freedom. I mourn the dead of 9/11 and I honor those who died bravely trying to save others. And one of the casualties of 9/11 is the freedom Texas Social Studies teachers will spend the rest of this week teaching and celebrating. It was wounded with the PATRIOT Act and the actions of TSA, and Janet Napolitano's report declaring any conservative or libertarian, patriotic, gun owning, Constitution loving, abortion opposing American, especially if they have served in the military in combat a potential terrorist. Think about it, by the new rules I'm committing an act of terrorism and/or inciting terrorism carrying out my assigned duties this week! I mourn the freedom lost on 9/11 as bitterly as I mourn the dead. I don't deny the necessity of a "War on Terrorism" but I do decry that it is used as a pretext to crush the liberty it is supposed to defend. And if history is any guide we have at least thirty more years of this "war" to go and I am afraid and angry that at the end of this time the meaning of liberty will be forgotten. So I guess I'll stay in the class room a little longer and try to keep the memory of freedom alive and teach kids that they can and must reclaim it. I think this is the tribute my conscience demands I pay the dead of 9/11. A.X. Perez
Was that worth reading? "Junk" Mail Is Not Always Junk I've always been a fan of "junk" mail. I recently moved across Oklahoma (Yukon to Henryetta) and discovered that a catalog from Tools for Freedom followed me. (Too bad freedom itself always seems to elude me. Perhaps I simply haven't moved far enough away!) On page 18 of the catalog is featured a DVD entitled "16th Amendment Fraudulently Ratified." The catalog further warns "(Nearly Banned DVD!)". The warning I suspect was added to help maximize sales. But upon reading the description of the DVD, I realized I would not buy it: I already own the book! The DVD is based on the book The Law That Never Was by Bill Benson and M.J. "Red" Beckman. I bought the book in early 2001. It's in two volumes, but I've always been a fan of ink on paper. Upon completing both volumes (I tend to read with an eye for detail), my first reaction was "I want my money back!" A moment later I realized my money was long gone. I do not approve of what those blackguards have done with my money. They've been stealing money from all of us working folks since they "passed" the 16th Amendment in 1913 and instituted the personal income tax. The interesting question for me is, why do we continue to tolerate such government? Perhaps some day the victims will say "No More!" Perhaps not. But there is always a limit to everything. I will watch with eager curiosity as the final chapters of the U.S. Empire unfold. Empires rise, empires fall. The manner in which the U.S. Empire will fall has me most interested. Will it fall with a bang or a whimper? Or will our betters keep it from falling altogether? I doubt they are better; I doubt they can stop the fall, no matter how much they might protest. We live in interesting times! In my state of advanced decrepitude, I would enjoy more freedom, more of my hard-earned money. Those blackguards that continue in elected office: I didn't vote for any of them! Old habits die hard. I lived most of my adult life in Chicago. Being an eternal optimist, I voted in every election, always against Daley's Machine. It did no good. The Machine always won. I need new habits! My fault: I should have expatriated years ago! Was that worth reading? Re: "The Paradox of Government" by DataPacRat DataPacRat, The difference between the "government" model we have now and what you are talking about... "... a group that is at least as powerful in the defense as organized criminals are in the attack"is that it would be a voluntary organization and funded voluntarily. All the difference in the world, whether you call it a "government" or not. MamaLiberty (a.k.a. Susan Callaway)
To which DataPacRat replied: MamaLiberty, That may be entirely true, but "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?"? How is an average person to tell the difference between a group of criminals claiming to be using force in self-defense, a group of libertarians actually using force in self-defense, and a group that started out by only using force in self-defense but which has fallen from those ideals? I also have to ask a fundamental questionboth because I don't actually know the answer, and what the answer really is is important. Is it possible for a voluntarily-funded, voluntary organization to fend off an attack by organized criminals? What evidence exists pointing to one answer or another? If 'yes', what are the necessary conditions? And, if the answer in at least one situation turns out to be 'no', what fallback plans should be considered? Thank you for your time, DataPacRat
Re: "Letter from A.X. Perez" last issue I take a little issue with what A.X. Perez says:
We already have one. It's called the 2nd Amendment, perhaps you've heard of it? The 2nd Amendment: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Shall not be infringed, doesn't sound to me like they should be in the business of regulating guns at all now, does it? Simon Jester, (a.k.a. "Jim B")
Was that worth reading? Reminder Primary elections will soon begin. Make sure that you let the candidates know that the price of your support is that they raise hell over Operation Gunwalker. I really don't have much more to say this week, and I realize many of you have chosen to drop out of the political system. That said, I swore I wasn't letting this go until the right heads rolled and none is even oiling up the guillotines yet. A.X. Perez
