Special to L. Neil Smith's The Libertarian Enterprise

It must be tough to pretend you can rule the entire world, control the minute life choices of every person on the globe, legislate the weather, and even look into the future to predict what people will think and do. It's harder to imagine why anyone but a politician would believe any of this stuff, but the evidence seems to indicate that a lot of people do.

It's especially hard to understand why people believe politicians when they spend so much time with their feet in their mouths... and often both feet at the same time.

Obama recently managed to get a third foot inside his oral cavity, I seem to remember, but then he's exceptional in so many ways. Senate Candidate Provokes Ire With 'Legitimate Rape' Comment "...provoked ire across the political spectrum on Sunday by saying that in instances of what he called "legitimate rape," women's bodies somehow blocked an unwanted pregnancy."

In the grand scheme of things, his remarks were silly and stupid, but did no real harm to anyone. As with any speech, those who did not agree with what he said were perfectly free to ignore him, even tease him about the gaffe, of course.

The worldwide response to this stupid, ignorant remark is, however, truly insane. The idea that this one politician speaks for anyone but himself is silly to start with, and people who are so shallow as to judge others by this one person deserve the consequences, whatever they may be.

The economy of the world hangs by a thread and most of the politicians in the world are busy trying to get at that thread with their knives... The globe is perched on the edge of another world war, and again, the politicians are working night and day to ensure that wars continue in every possible corner, even if they can't quite orchestrate a world wide conflagration just yet.

The police state grows by the day. William Grigg identifies the important facts in this newest article.

I recognize that this description mingles totalitarian idioms, but this is necessary in order to capture the specific flavor of American's version of the Total State. It doesn't offer the lurid pageantry of National Socialism, nor does it mimic the same drab, soul-deadening grayness of the Soviet model. America's "soft" totalitarianism blends some elements borrowed from its Soviet and Nazi predecessors, while adding a generous helping of the State-supervised consumerism depicted by Aldous Huxley.

Would someone please tell me just what in the world was so earth shattering about a stupid statement by a hack politician?

Maybe the idea is to distract the poor cattle of the world with this sort of nonsense while the politicians finish off the thread holding what's left of everything together. I think most of us can identify quite a few other such attempts... False flag events aplenty come to mind.

OK, but can't figure out why in the world politicians and their minions want to destroy the lives and prosperity of all the people who have always supported them in the style to which they all believe they are entitled. Just whom do they suppose will produce the wealth for them to steal once we have all been reduced to lives worse than 11th century serfs.

Do they know something none of us knows? Or are they all really just as stupid and arrogant as Mr. Akin?

The only question I have left is:  Why do most of the people in the world swallow this bilge and allow the politicians to continue controlling their lives? What's in it for us besides war, death and poverty?

Don't we outnumber them by some significant factor? What's the deal?

Was that worth reading?
Then why not:
