THE LIBERTARIAN ENTERPRISE Number 698, November 25, 2012 Our single nebulous hope resides in a leaderless, centerless spirit of individual liberty. Each time it's provoked into raising its head, it startles and frightens those who think they own us."

Dear L Neil Smith, Re: "Look for the Union Label" Bravo! Labor union (or Trade unions in the UK, names varying with language) rules are such that if any other private company or entity did what labor unions do, they would be prosecuted for creating a cartel, in most jurisdictions including the US. They are one of the gravediggers of the US economy. No wonder jobs get outsourced to China and other low-cost nations. If we got rid of welfare and of the minimum wage laws, many jobs would stay in the USafter all, a moderate wage differential is OK with most employers because of savings in transportation and administrative costs. But there is no sustainability in GM workers doing routine jobs at 70 bucks an hour including benefits. As to the experiment in the UK with profit sharing, OF COURSE the trade unions hate it. When you align corporate goals with employee goals, the employees' interest in union representation largely goes away. In fact, much of union propaganda is centered on making out the employers, in particular private employers, as bad guys from whom you need union protection. OK, in same cases that just might be true, but more often employees and employers alike, as in the Hostess Shrugged case, need protection from the union. Best, and keep up the good work. Was that worth reading? To the "Gang" at JPFO: When I opened my e-mail this morning (yes, even on Thanksgiving Day), I came across a message from Ammoland.com, a site I generally find interesting. But this particular morning, I was surprised and delighted to find the following contribuion from my very own favorite pro-gun organization, Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership. I've been associated with this organization, founded by my friend, the late Aaron Zelman, for at least 15 years, and this, in my opinion, is the best outreach effort I've seen the group mount. The hypocrisy of Hollywood is there for anyone to see and despise. Indeed I first wrote about it when the viciously anti-gun Australian actor Rod Taylor was filmed fighting a duel with football player turned actor Jim Brown, using chainsaws. I don't know which of my friends and associates at JPFO pulled this off, but it's just the thing we need to kick off a year that will see the dirtiest and most frantic attempts ever to rob us of our fundamental human right to own and carry weapons. Thanks, friends! L.Neil Smith
Was that worth reading? Humor, forwarded: The Afghan Quarterback The coach had put together the perfect team for the Chicago Bears. The only thing that was missing was a good quarterback. He had scouted all the colleges and even the Canadian and European Leagues, but he couldn't find a ringer who could ensure a Super Bowl win. Then one night while watching CNN he saw a war-zone scene in Afghanistan . In one corner of the background, he spotted a young Afghan Muslim soldier with a truly incredible arm. He threw a hand-grenade straight into a 15th story window 100 yards away. KABOOM! He threw another hand-grenade 75 yards away, right into a chimney. KA-BLOOEY! Then he threw another at a passing car going 90 mph. BULLS-EYE! "I've got to get this guy!" Coach said to himself. "He has the perfect arm!" So, he brings him to the States, teaches him the great game of football and the Bears go on to win the Super Bowl. The young Afghan is hailed as the great hero of football, and when the coach asks him what he wants, all the young man wants is to call his mother. "Mom," he says into the phone, "I just won the Super Bowl!" "I don't want to talk to you, says the old Muslim woman."You are not my son!" "I don't think you understand, Mother," the young man pleads. "I've won the greatest sporting event in the world. I'm here among thousands of adoring fans." "No! Let me tell you!" his mother retorts. "At this very moment, there are gunshots all around us. The neighborhood is a pile of rubble. Your two brothers were beaten within an inch of their lives last week, and I have to keep your sister in the house so she doesn't get raped!" The old lady pauses, and then tearfully says, "I will never forgive you for making us move to Chicago!!!! Demonic Warmongers This may represent a sophomoric insight. If so, all hail the wisdom of sophomores. The Aztecs worshipped Huitzilopochtli by tearing out the hearts of volunteers and prisoners of war. Often these prisoners were seized in "Flowery Wars" , special battles fought to capture human sacrifices. The ancestors correctly viewed this as demon worship and used it as an excuse to conquer the Azteca and steal their gold and nation. So, I must ask all you old men, who sacrifice young men and "innocent bystanders" in war to gain wealth and power, especially power, a simple question: How are you different from the Mechica who called Satan by the name Huitzilopochtli and sacrificed human hearts to him?
