Dear Dr. King,

Thought I'd let you know how things have gone in the 44, nearly 45 years since you've passed. The good news is that state supported racism is a thing of the past in the United States. I would also like to inform you that your example inspired other people to make a stand and peacefully seek respect for their rights. Black women have especially made strides in education and economic success. We have Black judges in the Supreme Court, Black Generals commanding major installations, and a Black President. He's a "progressive", which nowadays means a liberal with strong socialist leanings. Now it so happens I disagree with a lot of his ideas, but I think you would have approved of many of them, and to be fair, he has the right to stick up for and honestly debate any ideas. We all do and you as much as anyone else died to defend that right.

The bad news is that the bureaucrats have seized control of the enforcement of the laws enforcing what you accomplished. Instead of being judge by the content of one's character or achievement, one must prove they are of the correct race and gender to meet quota, then they may compete based on ability, assuming someone doesn't decide to come up with another politically determined criteria. Character means less for people of all races, political skill means all. Black males have been more and more marginalized by a welfare system that discourages men from staying with their families and then leaves young Black boys with no role models to teach them how to be men. Black people have shorter lives, more abortions, a higher murder rate and are poorer than most Americans, and make it dependent on o be honest, government programs originally meant to help Black people overcome the disabilities created by racism and discrimination have instead acted to tie Black America to its past status of victim-hood and dependent on white largesse.

At least that's what I see and right or wrong I thought you would want to know.
