About those magazines [Re: EDITORIAL MATTERS, last issue, "U.S. Army Buys Nearly 600,000 Soviet AK-47 Magazines" link to article] Interesting, that article you pointed to about the feds ordering half a million AK47 magazines. You said that you are "never sure how accurate sites like infowars.com actually are". Fair enough. But in this case, their article links to the fed's request for bid, which lives on a GSA website with a .gov site name and a valid digital signature for that address. That's as solid a confirmation as you're going to find. Paul Koning

" I'm a little confused. Is Thomas Knapp suggesting the coply feeders at the public trough work in the interests of the peons, rather than in their own? Or that the tax eaters and the people who unwillingly support them have identical interests? This appears a little naive. To me it seems more likely that cops work in their own interests, as everyone does; and that the interests of the two groups are fundamentally at odds. Peons like smoking marijuana and dislike murder and other such mala in se crimes. Cops on the other hand, need murder and other such crimes running at a low roar to justify their existence if not to expand their budgets, and additionally prefer to criminalize behavior the peons see no reason for (mala prohibita). One has only to ask the question, "What would happen if all crime stopped," to understand. Cops would not like that at all, because they would be out of work. So the examples of behavior by cops cited in his article make perfect sense—from the cops' point of view. There is no need to act surprised about it. Paul Bonneau

A correction. Re: "Neale's Weekly Gun Rant Volume 21" In TLE #734 Neale Osborn said: "Ahhhhh, Kaleeforneeya! If you can't violate the Constitution one way, violate it another! Link. Since the constitution doesn't specifically prohibit infringing on our right to keep and bear ammunition, the cocksuckers are trying this new backdoor method of Victim Disarmament. Tell me again why I won't ever even visit that useless state." This is wrong. The former Constitution of the former Unites States did, indeed, prohibit the infringement of the right to keep and bear ammunition. Ammunition is part of a system of arms. The old constitution prohibited the infringement of the fundamental right of all people to keep and bear all arms, at all times and in all places. That specifically includes ammunition. In fact, the kickoff of the First American Revolution at Lexington and Concord was triggered by an attempt by the Royal "Police" (regular army acting in-country) to steal ammunition from the residents there. The local folks shot and killed the "police". I recommend doing it some more.
As for a good reason to "visit that useless state", how about running guns and ammunition? All the Best

Noam Chomsky, leading Left intellectual self described as anarcho-syndicalist (who even wrote an essay attacking anarcho-capitalism as a concept) and the father of linguistic analysis (such as it is) is reflective of what I have been pointing out to all futurists out there. The intellectual/political landscape is changing dramatically, moreso than in my lifetime and probably before as well. Nat Hentoff (Left, ACLU etc.) siding with libertarians, Oliver Stone (film director often perceived as Left) saying he would vote for the old man Ron Paul in an election, and now Chomsky saying (without doing so with tongue in cheek) that Sarah Palin (of all people) was right on Obama!. The world is going topsy turvy and not without good reason and not without implied direction. This not sent to irritate anyone, nor to "educate," but just to show everyone how the terrain is moving below your feet, even if you are locked into some old position. School Daze The school year is starting. People will begin to complain that school dulls kids minds by making them memorize facts.Actually, they'll start complaining about a whole lot else, but this one needs to be refuted. The problem is not kids being asked to memorize the Declaration of Independence. It's asking kids to memorize the first two sentences of the Declaration without asking them to memorize and understand the third. It's lying and telling kids that the 2nd Amendment may or may not grant an individual right to bear arms when Heller and MacDonald say yes it does. It's school boards mandating lesson plans declaring Trayvon Martin a martyr and explaining why stand your ground laws are wrong. It's teaching kids to value security and wealth over freedom and dignity. A.X. Perez
