Special to L. Neil Smith's The Libertarian Enterprise

Dear family and fiends (you know who you are),

Just now, FaceBook tried to shut me up. I had posted with regard to the shut-down lead refinery. Two idiots responded, one calling me an alarmist, the other claiming that that modern ammunition doesn't use lead.

I replied, and offering a completely phony reason, the system wouldn't take the post on ampage called "Second Amendment Samizdat". So here's what I said. Perhaps you'll pass it on ...

* * *

Leah, please don't embarrass yourself further . You clearly know nothing about this subject. I am a retired gunsmith, ballistician, pistol instructor, and professional reloader, so I do know something about it.

Over the past 40 years, I have seen, handled, and manufactured hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammunition, not one full percent of which was lead-free.

I'm going to assume you know the difference between cartridges and bullets. Some bullets are made of lead, others have lead cores inside cupro-nickel jackets. A few are cupro-nickel shells into which hundreds of tiny lead pellets have been swaged (look it up). No other metal lends itself as well to firearms use as lead.

Perhaps you would prefer that we use depleted uranium.

Please re-read what I wrote. You, too, Dmitry. The EPA "standards" for pollution-free lead production were tightened _tenfold_ overnight. That's not a matter of public health, it's pure victim-disarmament politics. The creatures who want you helpless have failed in the legislatures. The American people (especially here in Colorado) have made it clear that they have obeyed their last gun control law. So here we are, with the most vile, corrupt, and totalitarian administration in history trying to make ammunition unobtainable.

Get wise, suckers. I don't want to have to say "I told you so" when we're prisoners in the camps. Only, one way or another, I won't be there, because, as a retired gunsmith, ballistician, pistol iinstructor, and professional reloader, I also know that properly-made ammunition can have a shelf-life generations long.
