THE LIBERTARIAN ENTERPRISE Number 763, March 23, 2014 We have arrived at a crossroads in history, and the country stands on the brink of civil war. Special to L. Neil Smith's The Libertarian Enterprise Hey, Yesterday, the government of Turkey blocked Twitter entirely, cutting off 10 million people from the social network that has been essential in the organizing of protests and the dissemination of information. Last night, we received this email from our contact in Turkey, from Alternatif Bilism, the group of academics and activists in who we are working with to fight the censorship:
If you're not familiar, a VPN (Virtual Private Network) is simple downloadable software that will allow Internet users in Turkey to cut through the censorship and conceal their Internet activity from the government. We are ready to send a big batch of extremely secure, no-log VPN accounts to Turkey for activist groups to distribute during their trainings and events, but right now we're only half-way to our fundraising goal to make it happen. Will you help push this over the edge? The more we raise the more people in Turkey we can help. Yes, I will donate to help fight censorship in Turkey. An attack on Internet freedom anywhere is an attack on Internet freedom everywhere. The people of Turkey are resisting these draconian restrictions, but they need our support right now to give them the cover they need to fight effectively. This is exactly why Fight for the Future exists. We are a small organization that can respond to threats quickly and creatively, and we go big or go home. Thanks for being part of the movement. Sincerely,
P.S. If you already contributed to this campaign, thank you so much! Please help spread the word by forwarding this email or sharing on Facebook or Twitter. Want more awesome more often?
