Regarding Open Carry in Oconomowoc City Parks Dear Editor, I would like to draw everyone's attention to a recent incident in my home town of Oconomowoc in which a man was engaged in open carry in a city park. This was legal by Wisconsin state law, but previously illegal by city law, which is currently in the process of being amended, because the city law banning open carry in parks is in violation of Wisconsin state law. A woman took a photograph of her son near the man, and subsequently began sobbing about it on Facebook, in front of the Oconomowoc city council and to the channel 4 TV station. You can see a video about the incident, and the woman here on youtube: Permit me to ask what should be an obvious question, but one which has not, as of yet, occured to anyone, because we've been trained to forget about that person behind the camera, but if this woman was actually so concerned about the safety of her son, the obviously 'terrified' (sarcasm) boy in the picture, then what the HELL was she doing wasting time snapping pictures to cry about to the public, rather than immediately going to defend or remove her son from what she claimed (in her later public and internet sobbing) was such an unsafe situation? I don't know about the readers here, and I don't have a child, but if I did, and thought my child was in danger, my first thought would be of defending my child or escaping with it, not standing around snapping pictures to whine about later.
