(Note to self—figger out a different way to introduce her!) It's time to open this ball, and I like to do it with a classy lady, the Queen of self defense, Mama Liberty!!!! (Loud cheers resound) ((She's gonna yell at me for going over the top again)) A little note—no matter when she sends me her tidbits, I always read them just before I type the rant—which explains why I wrote about he same topic this morning, and now I'm adding Mama Liberty's thoughts on it. Watching as much of the news and reading as many of the commentaries as I can manage, one thing stands out as a question not being asked, a topic not being mentioned almost anywhere.

The people targeted by the terrorists were not armed... none of them. They had zero effective ways to participate in their own defense. They were sitting ducks, conditioned to believe that the police would or could protect them and that they would be wrong to even wish for other options.

The question of the motives of the attackers, their religion or any of the rest of it seems distinctly secondary to this vital issue. Why couldn't these people at least have some chance of self defense? How does that learned and beloved helplessness contribute to world peace or safety?

You can file this under, "You might be a bunch of un-American, dimwitted liberals if..." The Michael Bloomberg anti-gun organization known as Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense have now set their sights on comedian Jeff Foxworthy and Country music star Alan Jackson because they agreed to appear at the 2015 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibitions in Nashville on April 11.

Moms Demand Action took to their Facebook to blast these two men.

Alan Jackson and Jeff Foxworthy agreed to open this year's NRA convention after the NRA pushed to arm convicted criminals, blocked federal gun violence research, and board members promoted armed insurrection.

Let's educate these celebrities on the dangerous and irresponsible policies the gun lobby supports.

Wait. Dangerous? Irresponsible? Seriously?

Of course, we expect this crap from these idiots—they are also, as noted above, hot about Kroger's Grocery stores (the largest chain in America) for refusing to comply with demands they prohibit open carry in their stores. Note that Kroger's is having it's best year ever.......

As I have stated before, I live in the People's Republic of New York—the state, NOT the city—and I am firmly opposed to the NY(un)SAFE Act, one of the most blatantly anti-Constitutional laws in America (and that's saying a LOT!) So it's no surprise I love what this guy is doing. (YES, I touched on him last week—SO WHAT He's doing a great job!) Time for some "Well Armed Citizens". This week, we'll bunch'em up! Strap in, hold on, and get ready for the ride. We've got a few examples of what liberal gun grabbers keep claiming never happens! First, we have an idiot who broke into a house in the wee hours of the New Year. [Link]

During the early morning hours of New Year's Day, police in western Wisconsin were called to a Centuria home to respond to a reported shooting. The resident, Justin Schilling, had called 911 to say he had shot Derek Amoroso after Amoroso broke into his house, according to the Polk County sheriff's department.

The Twin Cities Pioneer Press reported:

Schilling called 911 about 5:15 a.m. Thursday to report the shooting in the 400 block of Fourth Street.

He told the sheriff's office he was awakened by someone pounding on his door. When Schilling approached with a handgun, Amoroso kicked in the door, the sheriff's office said.

Schilling told investigators that he ordered Amoroso to leave, but Amoroso assaulted him, at which point Schilling shot Amoroso and fled the residence.

Deputies found Amoroso lying on Schilling's kitchen floor with a gunshot wound to the inner thigh. He was in stable condition Friday at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Schilling was unharmed.

Good work, Sir. It's just a shame you missed the femoral artery. Next, a pregnant woman defends her life by taking away a gun, and the invader dies in the course of the struggle. [Link]

On December 29, an Indianapolis home invader was shot and killed after a pregnant woman took away his gun.

According to ABC 6, the home invasion took place around 10 p.m. "on the 3100 block of East 10th Street." The suspect forced his way into an apartment occupied by a man and his pregnant fiance. One of the two residents was armed at the time, but the suspect disarmed them. A wrestling match ensued in which the pregnant woman helped take the gun back.

Once the gun was retrieved, the suspect, Dequan Cummings, was shot and "pronounced dead at the scene."

The People were saved the cost of a trial and incarceration. Then we come to the last one. OK, I admit it—the good guy isn't armed with anything but big brass ones. But I liked it so much, I HAD to include it! Watch the video! [Link]

We don't know why the subject of this Live Leaks surveillance video went to the convenience store that day. Maybe he really, really needed a cup of coffee. Maybe he was jonesing for a pack of cigarettes. Or maybe he was in search of the men's room. Whatever his purpose, he was focused and moving forward, and when he encountered a young guy brandishing a gun, he was in no mood to slow down. Watch as he the guy with the gun waves it around and tips the customer's hat. Our star just gives him a dirty look, brushes the gun aside, and continues on his way.

NOT the recommended way to deal with an armed and agitated asshole, but in this case, it worked! AND we finish up with this one! [Link]

ST. LOUIS—A would-be robber was shot in the chest inside a Walgreens early Wednesday morning by the owner of a different store he had tried to rob moments earlier, police say.

The man who was shot is expected to survive.

St. Louis Police Lt. Ed Harper said the would-be robber had tried to rob Kaiser Grand Mart, a gas station at 5008 South Grand Boulevard, before 8 a.m. Wednesday. The robber, 32, handed a note to a clerk demanding money but he did not show or imply having a weapon.

The robber ran out of the store when the clerk alerted managers to the robbery attempt, Harper said. Someone at the store called police, telling dispatchers that Kaiser's owner followed the man out of his store and several blocks to the Walgreens at 5550 South Grand Boulevard.

Kaiser's owner followed the man into the Walgreens, saw that the man was trying to rob it and pulled his own gun, Harper said.

That's when the robber pointed his gun toward the gas station owner, Harper said. The gas station owner then fired his gun twice, hitting the robber once in the upper chest.

The robber was in critical but stable condition, police say. No one else was hurt.

The gun the would-be robber carried turned out to be a toy handgun, Harper said.

The owner of Kaiser's is in his mid-40s. Police said they are not likely to pursue charges against him.

Well done, sir. Hopefully, the toy-gun wielding idiot will feel a pain in his chest (AFTER he gets out of jail) will think of this the next time he's short of cash and thinks robbery is the way to get some.

Hashim Hanif Ibn Abdul-Rasheed had parked illegally outside the ticketing terminal and was acting bizarrely as he tried to buy a ticket to an undisclosed location Wednesday afternoon. He showed off a woman's ID to try and make the buy at one point before he was rebuffed, cops said.

Airport police called a tow truck to remove the illegally parked vehicle from the departures lane just before 1 p.m. Wednesday when Abdul-Rasheed returned.

"The man initially spoke with the officer then suddenly produced a knife and lunged at the officer, attempting to stab him," the Port Columbus International Airport said in a statement. "The officer fired at the suspect, who momentarily dropped to the ground and then got back up and continued advancing towards the officer. A backup officer responded at which point the suspect quickly moved towards him with the knife forcing the officer to retreat backwards towards the terminal entrance where a third officer was positioned. The third officer shot multiple times, striking the suspect, ending the attack."

I don't think THIS police shooting will spark any outrage....

I'm going to spend a few discussing France and the Islamic terrorism currently running rampant there. Last New Year, over 1000 cars were burned by Muslim "protesters" in paris and the surrounding environs. This year was an "improvement"—only 940+/- were burned. A few days ago, "Charlie Hebdo", a satirical French newspaper, was attacked by Islamic extremists. 12 dead. As I write this, a Paris grocery store is under siege by police trying to extract Islamic terrorists—currently, 2 (victims?) are dead. Details are sketchy at present (11:16 am, 1-9-15). I'm not going to get into the whole BS of "Islam is a religion of peace". It isn't—it needs it's reformation before that is a possibility. Right now, they are still in their "Spanish Inquisition" phase, and are not welcome in civilized society in my opinion. are there peaceful decent, friendly Muslims? Yup! But not standing up in opposition to the animals in their faith. I expect to see the "cheese eating French surrender monkeys" (thanks to Mark Steyn for that one) to continue to appease Muslims living in their country. I expect to see harsh new laws opposing freedom of speech when it comes to opposing Islam. And I expect OUR country to continue down the road to outlawing free speech that isn't PC. At least as long as our current occupier of the Oval Orifice has a pen and a phone. I have been told, MANY TIMES, that if I feel the need to carry a gun to the grocery store, I need a different grocery store. (NO, I'm not digressing) One wonders how many of these French victims of terrorism supported France's laws on civilian gun ownership. And how many would change their minds if they were still alive. Funny thing—(remember, I write these from the bottom up!) I just read Mama Liberty's contribution today (10:10 pm, 1-9-15)—on the same topic. But I continue—French police can CHOOSE whether to carry or not. After seeing the photo of the French cop begging for his life, then being shot in the head, methinks they are going to stop choosing "Not". To those people who have decided I'm paranoid for carrying a gun everywhere (and choosing not to go places I ma prohibited from doing so) I remind you—NO ONE gets up in the morning knowing where the bad guys will strike unless they ARE the bad guys. I have made a choice—one every American is supposed to have the right to make—to take responsibility for my own protection, and the protection of my family and property. I choose to exercise this right in accordance with an un-Constitutional law in my home state of New York solely because my beloved wife asked me to do it "legally" to save taking the kids to visit Daddy in the pen, but if the law takes that right away, well, further deponent sayeth not. I do not ever want to use my gun in self defense, but rest assured—if the day ever comes, I will not hesitate to defend self and family.

Of COURSE no one is going to use the NYSafe Act to confiscate guns from New Yorkers. RIIIIIGHT!!! [Link] no criminal record (in fact, 30 years as a cop) PLUS a Navy veteran, and the PERMANENTLY confiscate his four legally owned firearms because he sought treatment for insomnia. And HOW did the state find out? because the NYSafe act violates HIPAA rules, and passes your medical info to bureaucrats without warrants or subpoenas.

One former Navy man and 30-year police force veteran is suing the relevant authorities in New York after four of his legally registered firearms were confiscated as a result of his seeking voluntary treatment for insomnia.

Despite the fact that he has no criminal record, was diagnosed with only "mild depression" and his record explicitly noted that there was no concern for violence, the man was listed as a "mental defective." And thanks to New York's "SAFE Act" for Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act of 2013, his weapons were seized by the local sheriff's office after his records were shared and New York State Police made repeated requests for confiscation, as American Thinker reported:

According to the suit, the hospital diagnosed the plaintiff as "mildly depressed," and his clinical evaluation stated, "Patient has no thoughts of hurting himself. Patient has no thoughts of hurting others. Patient is not having suicidal thoughts. Patient is not having homicidal thoughts..." and "there is no evidence of any psychotic processes, mania, or OCD symptoms. Insight, judgment, and impulse control are good." The suit further alleges that a psychiatrist told the plaintiff, "I don't know why you were referred here. You don't belong here."

Nonetheless, the suit contends that five days after being discharged from the hospital, the local sheriff's department showed up at Montgomery's door and seized his four registered handguns, including his former duty sidearm, after the sheriff had been subjected to "repeated pressure" by the New York State Police, who claimed that Montgomery had been declared mentally defective and had been involuntarily committed to a mental institution.

Montgomery alleges that the hospital violated his privacy by transmitting his medical information to the State Police without his consent or knowledge. Montgomery subsequently requested a hearing to have his handgun ownership permit reinstated, but the sheriff's department allegedly terminated his permit without a hearing.

Yup. A "mental defective". And this is made easier every day because Obamacare REQUIRES electronic recordkeeping, which makes it simple for variousc government agencies to access your private medical records without ANY oversight, warrants, or subpoenas. Which the liberal anti-Constitutionalists LOVE when applied to gun owners, but would scream bloody murder over if applied to, say, the 1st, 4th, or 5th Amendments. Do you think they'd tolerate a law that required ALL written words to be stored electronically, where the government can access them without a warrant? Somehow (he says with tongue in cheek) I doubt it.

Isn't it funny how a reporter would thinks abolishing part of the Bill of Rights wouldn't affect the rest of the Bill. [Link] The funniest part I support his right to say what he said, even though I find it disgusting.

In a recent column for the Wisconsin Gazette, writer Tom Hastings took the position that the U.S. should abolish the constitutionally protected right to bear arms. The Portland State University teacher and director of Peace Voice criticized America as a nation that "fetishizes, lionizes, valorizes, idolizes, and sacralizes guns" more than any other nation with the exception of Mozambique.

His article suggested that gun violence has passed the point at which the nation should "repeal the stupid Second Amendment," going on to insist that America's founding fathers in no way supported the right of individuals to freely carry firearms.

He scolded Supreme Court justices who upheld that freedom and lamented the fact that "conservatives took away" the right of any city or state that "wants to outlaw firearms."

Ostensibly speaking for "American people," Hastings concluded that the nation is "exhausted by the proliferation of death, of threats, of bloodshed, and by the NRA/gun industry moral garbage spewing forth every time someone challenges the ubiquity of guns."

The response to his opinion, however, reveals that plenty of readers resent his characterization of both the Second Amendment and the American people's feelings toward it.

One has to wonder what he'd say if some 2nd Amendment activist said "It's time to get rid of that stupid First Amendment. The founders never intended for reporters to actually say what they think, nor should people be able to speak out against government. Besides, we NEED a state religion." Probably exactly what I would have to say about that statement—"Over my dead body!" Of course, I feel that way about the entire Bill of Rights, not just one of them.
