Neale's Doubled-Up Gun Rant for 2-22-2015 & 3-1-2015
Attribute to L. Neil Smith's The Libertarian Enterprise I'd like to start out with an apology/explanation. Ok, it's not an apology. I never apologize for putting family in front of you fine folks. AS my regular readers already know, we're going through some bad times with my father. There are days when the COPD reduces his O2 saturation to the point a regular person would be passed out and the ambulance called. Because he LIVES with O2 levels that kill lesser mortals, when his levels DROP, he gets bad. And last week, they fell through the basement. You and I live at 95-100% sats. We'd be woozy at 80%, and passed out before we hit 60%. Pop lives at 50-55%. Last Friday, when I wasn't working on this rant, he was at 38%. Which means he could not form coherent sentences, his thoughts wandered, and he got alternately sad, confused, and nasty. I was there. We thought we would lose him by morning. He refused to go to the hospital, and we would never force him—he's pretty damned forceful that he does not want machinery to keep him alive. Soooo, I got up every hour to check on him all night. And in the morning, he was back to normal. Well, normal for him. 53%. By Saturday night, he was a touch confused again, down to 42%, but again, back to 54%b by morning. We're gonna lose him, sooner or later. He's had 76 hard years, and when he goes, I hope you'll read my tribute to him. He's not perfect. In fact, he's kind of a prick. But he's my Pop, and I love him. Go to the link, and listen to the song. Don't blame ME if it makes you cry. [Link] Now that that is out of the way, we can really start this thang rolling! YO, Mama Liberty!!!! We NEEED you, STAT! [Link] Tonight's episode is entitled "Gun Control—Leaders and Followers". And it starts like this........ It hit me last night that a lot of us may have been wasting much of our time trying to fight the "gun control" leaders, on several levels. Obummer has pretty much stayed out of it, being busy with vacations, golf, plotting world war, adding to the latest list of those he'd like to have "renditioned," and redefining occasional words in the English dictionary, among many other things. Too much work for one man, of course, but it's been hard for him to really count on Holder, the DOJ, BATFE, NSA and the IRS, etc,. because they have been very busy too. Imagine the scope of all the lies to remember, hard drives to destroy, things to lose and then find, sort of... like emails, guns and stuff. They send out their swarms of armed goons when they can, but it's not always that easy. Interdepartment political wars and snarking contests make it hard to get down to the real business of destroying liberty and the economy, but they do what they can. Lots of the boots on the ground work has been taken up by organizations like Shannon's MDA, or as I like to call them, Mothers Demanding Atrocities. Bloomberg, the pimp-in-chief of all those who think they own other people, has bankrolled and encouraged dozens of efforts to redefine words, demonize freedom, and use real victims to create ever more victims. They can't exactly plan any actual murders, so they've had to be content with talking about killing all gun owners. But I really don't think they've analyzed that desire to any realistic extent. She has some excellent ides, and makes some telling points. Read on, Mates!! This smart woman DIDN'T follow the Morons Demand Confiscation..... er, I mean Moms Demand Action playbooks when a rapist came to call on her. [Link] Women across the nation have to be worried about sex offenders. That's because every 107 seconds a woman is sexually assaulted in the U.S.More often than not those women are unarmed, and completely unable to defend themselves. Not the case for an unnamed woman in Texas (man, do we love Texas!). Bearingarms.com reports how justice was served:
Very nice job, Good Lady. I salute you! In this episode of "As the Citizen Defends", we come upon a well armed pharmacist protecting his employees and customers. [Link] In West Virginia, a pharmacist used a .45 to stop an attempted robbery. In the video below there is little doubt about what happened. The case is noteworthy for a number of reasons. From wvmetronews.com:
It's good to see the good guys win another one. Thanks to TJ Mason for another good one. While I'm not sure why the driver told the cop he was carrying in the first place (though some states require it), but I like the cop's response to the knowledge. [Link] Darren Wolfe sent me this [Link] It's pretty telling, in my opinion. Now these perpetual "victims" want to learn about "Powerfully Peaceful Action in the Face of Armed and Aggressive Opposition". Why do they say they need to do this? Because, according to them, "Almost every group in the gun sense movement has—at some time in the last several years—been confronted by armed and/or aggressive counter demonstrators at one of our public actions." Though as you can see at the link above no examples of any aggressive behavior towards them are given. Of course, we often counter-demonstrate their events armed but that's not aggression as the zero body count and zero hospitalization rate among attendees show. If being around guns frightens them there is a name for that, hoplophobia. Perhaps a psychiatrist would be more helpful to them than a workshop. I wish I knew what aggressiveness they've been facing. Last June we went out of our way not to interfere with their gun rights hating march from Chester to Media, two towns near Philadelphia, PA. Here is video proof that they weren't even verbally insulted. Isn't it sickening how they have no problem counter-demonstrating when one of OUR goups rallies, but they try to shut US down when we do the same? note the 2nd video in the rotation, where elected officials tell a gun rights activist to "go fuck yourself"—in those very words!! Isn't it nice to see respect for the voters from elected officials? We are so glad our brave boys in blue of the Clovis Unified School Police Force weren't injured in the subduing of this hardened criminal. [Link] How DARE she disobey his orders to stop bringing cupcakes to her grandkids!?! Fresno, California—78-year-old grandmother Mary Poole was brutally assaulted and pepper-sprayed by a police officer when she attempted to deliver cupcakes to her grandchildren at school. The children's parents are in the midst of a divorce and custody battle, so Mary wanted to do something nice for the children. She decided to deliver a gift in a neutral setting. "I hadn't seen my granddaughters for some time and I wanted to see them, and so I baked some cupcakes and bought some cookies for my granddaughters' classroom," Mary said. When she arrived at the school she was met by a rude Clovis Unified police officer who told her that she was not allowed to visit the children because there was a restraining order against her. In reality, there was no restraining order against her and no legal reason to keep her out of the school. The officer was either lying or was totally mistaken about the situation. Rest assured, she gets what she deserves—broken bones and a dislocated shoulder—out of the deal for her criminal behavior. And people say our police are often brutal to the innocent! We wonder where the New York Times will stand on this (I haven't finished reading the article yet). [Link] But we confess to believing they don't give a shit about rape victims, only banning carry everywhere they can get away with it, so I'm thinking the article is going to attack the idea of armed students on campus, especially armed FEMALE students on campus, as not being a good idea. EVEN if rapes DO decrease. "As gun rights advocates push to legalize firearms on college campuses, an argument is taking shape: Arming female students will help reduce sexual assaults. Support for so-called campus-carry laws had been hard to muster despite efforts by proponents to argue that armed students and faculty members could prevent mass shootings like the one at Virginia Tech in 2007. The carrying of concealed firearms on college campuses is banned in 41 states by law or by university policy. Carrying guns openly is generally not permitted. But this year, lawmakers in 10 states who are pushing bills that would permit the carrying of firearms on campus are hoping that the national spotlight on sexual assault will help them win passage of their measures. "If you've got a person that's raped because you wouldn't let them carry a firearm to defend themselves, I think you're responsible," State Representative Dennis K. Baxley of Florida said during debate in a House subcommittee last month. The bill passed. The sponsor of a bill in Nevada, Assemblywoman Michele Fiore, said in a telephone interview: "If these young, hot little girls on campus have a firearm, I wonder how many men will want to assault them. The sexual assaults that are occurring would go down once these sexual predators get a bullet in their head." In addition to those in Florida and Nevada, bills that would allow guns on campus have been introduced in Indiana, Montana, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas and Wyoming. Opponents contend that university campuses should remain havens from the gun-related risks that exist elsewhere, and that college students, with high rates of binge drinking and other recklessness, would be particularly prone to gun accidents. Some experts in sexual assault said that college women were typically assaulted by someone they knew, sometimes a friend, so even if they had access to their gun, they would rarely be tempted to use it. "It reflects a misunderstanding of sexual assaults in general," said John D. Foubert, an Oklahoma State University professor and national president of One in Four, which provides educational programs on sexual assault to college campuses. "If you have a rape situation, usually it starts with some sort of consensual behavior, and by the time it switches to nonconsensual, it would be nearly impossible to run for a gun. Maybe if it's someone who raped you before and is coming back, it theoretically could help them feel more secure." Well, it started off looking good, but rapidly devolved into "well, THIS is a bad idea—besides, most women wouldn't shoot their rapist because they know him!" BS. Then they drag in campus shootings (totally ignoring the number of students who COULDN'T defend themselves because of these asinine laws who are now dead and might not be if they had been armed). We see yet another attempt by our beloved masters to try to disarm America—this time by declaring .223 ball ammo "armor piercing. [Link] Now, let me make this CRYSTAL clear—Armor piercing, Incendiary, AP-I, Black Talons, Silvertips, Black Rhinos, or any other projectile are not something on which we should tolerate a ban. ANY ammunition that enhances our ability to defend ourselves from any person or entity that is attempting to damage, coerce, intimidate, control, or rob us is a good thing. "In a move clearly intended by the Obama Administration to suppress the acquisition, ownership and use of AR-15s and other .223 caliber general purpose rifles, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives unexpectedly announced today that it intends to ban commonplace M855 ball ammunition as "armor piercing ammunition." The decision continues Obama's use of his executive authority to impose gun control restrictions and bypass Congress. It isn't even the third week of February, and the BATFE has already taken three major executive actions on gun control. First, it was a major change to what activities constitute regulated "manufacturing" of firearms. Next, BATFE reversed a less than year old position on firing a shouldered "pistol." Now, BATFE has released a "Framework for Determining Whether Certain Projectiles are 'Primarily Intended for Sporting Purposes' Within the Meaning of 18 U.S.C. 921(a)(17)(c)", which would eliminate M855's exemption to the armor piercing ammunition prohibition and make future exemptions nearly impossible." No, I say the hell with worrying about FUTURE exemptions—let's get rid of all bans on our ammunition!!! NOTE—Esteemed author, self defense consultant, and all around damned nice guy, L. Neil Smith has passed along a link to a petition aiming at stopping this abomination. [Link] Go, sign, be free! Another of our "Well Armed Americans", this time an 11 year old young lady defends herself with her shotgun, leaving no one dead, no one injured, and she never even had to fire a shot. I am glad the young lady will not have to bear any trauma from her intelligent acts. [Link] "An 11-year-old girl was able to scare off a suspect—later taken into custody—during a home invasion in Lapeer County's North Branch Township. (UPDATE: Police say 11-year-old girl used her own shotgun to scare off robbers in Lapeer County) Deputies from the Lapeer County Sheriff's Department responded around 3:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30 to a Five Lakes Road home where the girl was home alone when a vehicle pulled into the driveway. A Lapeer County Sheriff's Office news release states one person knocked on all the doors and forced their way inside the home when there was no response. The girl locked herself inside a bathroom and hid in a closet with a shotgun. The suspect eventually opened the bathroom door and closet where the child was hiding with the weapon. The girl aimed the shotgun at the suspect, who then fled from the home. Police said the girl was not harmed during the encounter." Nicely done, my dear. Nicely done indeed. This "Well Armed American" did things correctly. [Link] She stopped a rapist dead (literally) in his tracks. "A woman in Van Zandt County, Texas had an alarming and unexpected visitor in the middle of the night on Tuesday. 37 year old Christopher Ray Foster, described by Sheriffs as having "an extensive criminal history" including a conviction for raping a child, was attempting to break into the woman's home through a side entrance. His plans were abruptly changed when he discovered that the woman was armed. " This scumbag will never rape again. And of course the lady will not face any charges for her work. No, this really isn't about guns, but it is just too damned important to ignore it just because it isn't. Does this scare you as much as it should? [Link] Well, it doesn't scare ME because I won't allow government paid thugs to control the life of MY kids!! 90,000 times in 3 years Connecticut public schools have physically restrained students. ONE CHILD restrained over 700 times in ONE school year—and a school year is roughly 180 days, so that student was physically restrained more than 3 times a day. "Connecticut public schools are far too quick to restrain or isolate unruly children against their will, leaving hundreds with injuries and many others with unmet educational needs, a state report released last week found. The report cited "significant concern" that schools are overusing restraints and so-called seclusion, particularly on kids with emotional or intellectual disabilities. Over the past three years, Connecticut has recorded more than 90,000 instances of restraint and seclusion in public schools and more than 1,300 injuries—at least two dozen of them serious. The report found one child was restrained more than 700 times over the course of a year. "The numbers are staggering," Mickey Kramer, the Associate Child Advocate for Connecticut and one of the authors of the report, told ProPublica. "We realize that this is a pervasive, widespread problem." The FIRST DAMN LINE pissed me off, and the rest of the story kept me pissed off. "Connecticut public schools are far too quick to restrain or isolate unruly children" Far too quick? WTF??? If you "need" to restrain an unruly child, YOU CALL THE FUCKING PARENTS, you do not act like a mental hospital........ Oh, wait! Mental hospitals have far stricter rules about restraints than public schools!!! Read on (AFTER taking your Blood Pressure meds) and see that not only are they doing this, injuring thousands of kids, they seem to do most of it to MENTALLY, EMOTIONALLY, AND PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED KIDS!!
