 THE LIBERTARIAN ENTERPRISE Number 812, March 8, 2015 This isn't brain science here, folks; it isn't rocket surgery.
Attribute to L. Neil Smith's The Libertarian Enterprise Mama Liberty starts us out this week, and only mentions guns once. Instead, she focuses on the concept of "authority", and why it doesn't exist the way you think it does. [Link] "Do you smile every day?" is the question she asks, and the title of this little piece. Everyone knows there is plenty in this world to worry about. Even those who avoid the world and national "news" as much as possible can't help but note the downward spiral in their own financial situation, especially if they or those they love are unemployed. There is the constant push to destroy God given rights to life and liberty, and increasing efforts to criminalize and control everything. Then there is the cost of everyday necessities, increasing due to the sinking national economy and shrinking dollar. A great many people are seriously worried about their health, and the increasing Obummercare insanity replacing free market medicine and insurance. And so much more. Did you know that stress, worry and fear, are far more detrimental to good health than you might think? It's almost impossible to know the truth about the "news" or, often, even what's really happening in our own area. Even people who are present during disturbances and crises seldom have a grasp on the whole problem, much less the whole solution. And, unfortunately, this creates a sort of vacuum that we too often fill with our imagination, our prejudices and the ghosts of our past. All of which can and will be used by the unscrupulous to direct, or even precipitate the next crisis. Trust, but verify. Don't expect to know or understand everything. Do you need to know? What could you do about it if you did? Good questions to ask yourself, I think. She goes on to pose some EXCELLENT questions about authority, life, liberty, and happiness. Y'all KNOW what I'm gonna say next, so why are you making me say it? When you finish, do what she says. The dog will thank you. My beloved former favorite state and possibly soon to be again, Colorado, seems to be on the path to recovery from their asinine experiment with Californicators and their anti-Constitutional laws. [Link] When you think of Colorado, there's a good chance you think of two things: the Rocky Mountains and marijuana.You might also remember they now have some of the more restrictive gun laws in the nation. But the NRA is shoving her own agenda right down her throat, and the media is wetting it's panties over it! [Link] The NY Daily News is inn a tizzy for this "new low in its bullying barrage against gun laws" ( what about you assholes trying to bully decent American citizens into shutting up and accepting a violation of the Bill of Rights so you can feel happy about a little temporary security?) And the worst part is, I'd fight as hard for the NYDaily News' and it's right to write articles as I do for MY right to own and carry the means of self defense. WASHINGTON — Hitting a new low in its bullying barrage against gun laws, the National Rifle Association on Thursday targeted Gabrielle Giffords in an attack mocking her 2011 shooting."Gabby Giffords: Everyone Should Have to Pass Background Check My Attacker Passed," the NRA tweeted from its main account. The tweet—which one lawmaker called "pathetic"—aimed to argue that background checks don't reduce gun violence and linked to an article on the right-wing Breitbart website. That story notes Jared Loughner, the crazed gunman who nearly killed Giffords, an Arizona Democrat, is among mass murderers who passed a background check to buy the gun they used. Giffords, then a U.S. representative, was among 18 people Loughner wounded. He killed six. Funny thing is, the tweet is exactly correct—Gabby is trying to force federal laws to require that we all go through the same background check her shooter did. Anybody want to join me in calling her an idiot? We discussed this case many moons ago in one of my rants, but it is time to briefly re-visit it today. Let me start off by saying (I KNOW—I say this too often, but the Victim Disarmers who read this in the dark, hiding it from their friends like a 12 year old boy with a Penthouse magazine MUST be reminded that I don't support a law just because I point out who broke it and got away with it!) Ennyhoo, back in December of 2012, an NBC anchorman violated Washington's asinine law banning possessing ANY high-cap magazines, making it a felony to do so. And he displayed on a news program filmed IN DC—he committed a felony. [Link] Police wanted to arrest him, but the prosecutor said "No, he's a nice guy." On the blog, William A. Jacobson reports:
Jacobson and other Second Amendment advocates would like to see the District's repressive gun laws changed, not just for celebrities and others deemed to be "above the law," but for the average citizen. Unlike the author of the blog report, I do want him arrested, charged, tried, and convicted of violating this law—the bastard advocated for it, supports it, reports stories lauding laws like this, and would never support one of US getting away with possessing such a fell device. So I say hoist the bastard on his own petard, and see if THAT shows him the error of his ways! I shall preface this with a personal disclaimer—I am not a Christian, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Animist, or member of any other religion. I find religion to be a comfort to some, and I won't try to take that away from them, but I cannot accept ANYTHING that requires me to "take on faith" the words of Neolithic goat-herds and ignore scientific evidence. Now, on to the story. A town appears to have declared war on churches. [Link] It reads like something out of a dystopian novel about the end times. A government agent, cloaked in a hooded sweatshirt and concealing a video camera, slips into a coffee bar one Sunday morning. He makes an attempt to blend in with the people gathered there. He films in secrecy, jotting down notes he will later share with his superiors. I was able to visualize, in my opinion, what appeared to be a ministry in progress. I observed people holding what appeared to be Bibles or religious books as one had a cross on it. I was approached by an unknown man with a cross around his neck. Unfortunately, this didn't happen in the pages of a book and it didn't happen in some fascist country where Christianity has been declared illegal. It happened in Lake Worth, Florida, where city officials seem to have a problem with the churches in their community. At the heart of the controversy are Pastor Mike Olive's weekly religious services, held at the Common Ground Coffee Bar. Last month, the owners of the establishment received a notice informing them that they did not have the permits to operate as a place of worship. Instead of city officials merely contacting Olive and explaining the situation, they engaged in subterfuge, sending a code enforcement officer into the services as if attempting to expose a terror cell. Haven't these assholes ever read the Bill of Rights??? Another casualty of the anti-Constitutional War on Drugs, and it's proliferation of "No-Knock" armed home invasions by government criminals. [Link] Oh, and they found nothing. But they managed to kill the resident!! Deltona, Florida—Twenty six-year-old Derek Cruice was shot and killed by police in cold blood this Wednesday inside of his home on Maybrook Drive in Deltona. Witnesses say that police were conducting a "no-knock" raid where they knocked down the door with a battering ram and entered the home with their weapons drawn. Friends who were inside the home told reporters that police fired their weapons without hesitation, and that it was blatantly obvious that Cruice was unarmed, as he was wearing basketball shorts and no shirt. The friends were also quick to point out that there were no weapons on the property at all. Cruice was reportedly shot directly in the face by Deputy Todd Raible, and although the police claim that he "advanced" towards the officers, his friends said that this is an absolute lie. "Volusia County Sheriff's Office narcotics investigators and the Street Crimes Unit were attempting to serve a search warrant at a residence. They were met with resistance and a shooting occurred," Volusia County Sheriff Ben Johnson said in a statement. "That is completely a lie. I was there; I watched the whole thing. There was no advancement. There was no reaching for anything. The guy was wearing basketball shorts like I am. It's kind of hard to conceal anything or hide anything when this is all you have on," roommate Steven Cochran told reporters. And this time, they can't even claim he "fired on police", because there were no guns OR drugs on site! Thanks to Marshall James for the link. Our beloved idiots in Congress of the Democrap persuasion must be brain damaged. They think that by making something illegal, it will stop the activity. And they are proposing 3 more laws to do nothing (but make criminals out of decent Americans) [Link] The newest wave of shit is to ban building guns at home. Either by purchasing receivers in the raw and building a so-called "Ghost Gun" (one our despised masters don't have any way to know about) or even building one from scratch. In addition, IF you have or build one of these "home-made" guns, you would be required to place a unique serial number on it and report it to BATFE. Many gun owners and hobbyists enjoy building firearms from component parts. Now some House Democrats have introduced legislation that would make it harder for individuals to construct their own guns at home. Representative Mike Honda of California and seven other Democratic legislators have proposed the Home-Assembled Firearms Restriction Act, which aims to ban the sale and purchase of "firearm receiver castings" and parts kits. At present, these receivers and parts kits are available to be purchased and used to make functioning weapons at home. * * * All three of Representative Honda's bills are co-sponsored by Representative Danny Davis, a Democrat from Illinois, and Alcee Hastings, a Democrat from Florida. His two bills on home-constructed guns are co-sponsored by other House Democrats. We need to send these asswipes a message—"We're mad as HELL, and we're not gonna take it anymore!" Fire ANY member of Congress, Senator, or local official who proposes, writes, suggests, supports, or votes for ANY law that violates ANY part of the Constitution. Fire'em by recall where possible, or at the next election if you can't recall'em! Again, I urge you ALL to go and sign this petition—do NOT let Obama and the BATFE set another precedent for Victim-Disarmament-By-Regulation. [Link] Preserve a small bit of the 2nd Amendment today—let the shitheads in DC know that banning AMMUNITION won't be tolerated, either! By now, Y'all might be (hell, OUGHTA be) aware I oppose CCW license laws—NOT because I oppose concealed carry, but because these laws pre-dispose us to accept that the government must GRANT us permission to exercise our Constitutional, Human, and Civil Right to own and carry ANY weapons (arms) we so desire in order to protect ourselves from ANY aggressor. And this just is not tolerable. If a right is licensed, granted, permitted, or controlled, and someone can deny us that right without our having committed crimes that require us to be stripped of those rights, then they aren't rights, they are, at best, privileges. If you need a permit to engage in free speech, if your church needs permission to hold services, if a cop does not need a warrant to search you or your property, or if you need a CCW license to put your pistol in your pocket, these things aren't rights, they are privileges. That being said as a pre-amble, we go to..... ...our "Well Armed American" segment. [Link] Koy Sam and his wife, and some of their customers, may owe their life to an anonymous man with a gun. Just after 8 p.m. Saturday, the couple were preparing to close their K&S Seafood Restaurant in Houston, when two armed men walked in. One of them forced the couple to the ground while the other headed to the register. The robber never made it that far. Instead a customer pulled out his own gun and held it on the man. KHOU-TV reports: "He was amazing," Sam said. "He absolutely kept us all calm, made sure everything was okay."As the customer held one suspect for police, he fired as the other suspect ran off. The bullets shattered the front windows of the restaurant. The second suspect got away and it's not clear if he was hit. Conservative radio has taken notice, urging listeners to eat at K&S. Thomas Bazan is one customer who has been going door to door handing out fliers for the restaurant. "There's wickedness and evil," he says, "And we need to stand up against it and fight back." Bazan's wife has been inspired by the customer, who has opted to remain unnamed. She plans to get her Concealed Handgun License. Sam says he is having a surveillance system installed, but for now, he is grateful Texas allows heroes like that customer to carry a concealed handgun. Like I said above, notice the last line—"he is grateful Texas allows heroes like that customer to carry a concealed handgun." This customer was ALLOWED to carry concealed in Texas. A privilege, not a right. You gotta love this one! [Link] Whether you like Billy-Bob and his skirt-chasing ways or you think he was a piece of shit, this artist sure hit him below the belt....... Damnit! Some might claim this isn't a 2nd Amendment issue, and thus not for the rants. But I decide what's rant-worthy, and so, I include this one. [Link] For all the idiots out there claiming these people want to "Fight the Gubbermint", that's not (quite) what they want. What they desire is, like any abused spouse, is a divorce. Several police departments and the FBI raided a meeting held by secessionist group The Republic of Texas on February 14th. Gathered at a VFW post in Bryan, TX., 60 members of the group were fingerprinted, photographed, and stripped of their cell phones. According to officials, the raid was brought on by a couple of "simulated court documents" forged by the Republic of Texas. The documents were fake summonses requiring a judge and a banker to appear before the group. Kerr County Sheriff Rusty Hierholzer obtained a search warrant authorizing law enforcement officials to seize any and all computers, cell phones, and software found in the raid. "You can't just let people go around filing false documents to judges trying to make them appear in front of courts that aren't even real courts," said the sheriff. He told the Houston Chronicle that the show of force—more than 20 officers were used in the raid—was necessary due to concerns of a violent reaction. According to Hierholzer, the group was involved with a weeklong standoff with state troopers in 1997. According to the Republic of Texas, however, they are not the group involved in that incident. Furthermore, they argue that the show of force was wholly uncalled for. They say they were debating issues such as currency and international relations at the meeting, and that a misdemeanor case of forged court documents did not require an armed raid. The group's website says, "The truth is that the Republic of Texas is a self-determined people attempting to throw off the yoke of military occupation of Texas through peaceful and lawful process." For the fans of Ol' (dis)Honest Abe out there, remember—Abe Lincoln murdered million of AMERICANS because they no longer wanted to be IN the United States. (I know, Y'all think the Civil War was only about slavery—it wasn't. Slavery was dying, and should have been destroyed ASAP, but the Civil War was not over slavery, it was beating the "wife states" into submission to the "federal husband.") Ol' Abe, despite USING slavery as an excuse for his actions, USED SLAVES, AS SLAVES to rebuild the Capitol during the war. And he is well known to have stated "If I can preserve the Union (i.e. beat the South into submission) without freeing a single slave, I would." But I have digressed. These Texans are doing THREE perfectly legal, totally Constitutional things. First, they are gathering peacefully to discuss political grievances (exercising their 1st Amendment rights). Second, they are ADVOCATING their state seceding from the Union (they are the only state with this right written into their state Constitution, which was a requirement before they would become a state). And third, they are AMERICAN CITIZENS, and they have the right to be free from warrantless searches and seizures—since the unconstitutional warrants were issued for non-existent crimes and did not specify seizing gold, silver, and cash, these items were stolen from them illegally by the armed assailants, not seized under a legitimate warrant. So no matter how you slice it, their rights were violated up the wazoo! This one floored me. [Link] I find it incomprehensible that these assholes actually held a vigil for FUCKING CRIMINALS killed by other criminals using guns as an excuse to ban guns!! North Carolina—(Ammoland.com)—Taking a page out of Bloomberg's "No More Guns" bus tour that memorialized terrorists (like the Ex-LAPD spree killer and Boston marathon bombers) the rabidly anti-gun (and recent Bloomberg acquisition) North Carolinians Against Gun Violence (NCGV) are planning to 'honor' felons killed during crimes in Durham, NC. NCGV's "Vigil Against Violence" is scheduled to be held, February 26, 2015, 7PM at Shepherds House Church, 107 N. Driver Street, Durham, NC. Of the 25 decedents planned to be taken advantage of by NCGV to push more gun control, most had significant criminal records, some spanning decades, including eight felons. Bloomberg and NCGV are lamenting the passing of habitual felons like Haywood Jabbar Downey with a history of repeated violent attacks on women. OK, I get it that Nanny Bloomie thinks it is OK to deny black men guns because they might use them in the commission of crimes. And as long as Bloomie the liberal asswipe is saying it, it isn't racist. (Yeah, we all know it's a racist idea no matter who says it, but Bloomie gets a pass) I get it that he desperately needs to pad the numbers of so-called "gun" crime victims, because the rate is falling every year as CCWs, open carry, and Constitutional carry become more common.
