Just click the red box (it's a button!) to pay the author Re: "At The Gate" by L. Neil Smith Two very minor quibbles on Neil's essay in TLE: 1. Having seen an essay (on Cheaper than Dirt, if I recall) basi calling the 5.7x28 round a slightly souped up .22 WMR, referring to the Fabrique Nationale pistol that fires it a "Flash Gordon" weapon might be a bit of a stretc 2. Given that the Colt Commander and Colt Officer are smaller, shorter barrel pistols with (for the Officer) a smaller capacity magazine, the logic should go that the officers should have weapons no better than the enlisted men, rather than the enlisted men having weapons as good as the officer Other than that, Amen again sir. Just click the red box (it's a button!) to pay the author Tell us about it President Obama apparently chose to complain on British TV that his biggest disappointment as President has been his failure to enact "common sense gun safety laws," or words to similar effect. A: One does not air family dirty laundry in public, talking about your dissatisfaction with American unruliness is quite beneath your office's dignity. B: The British are quite aware of how difficult it is to get Americans to accept gun control laws since 19 April 1775. One can almost hear the host saying "Uh huh, uh huh," and see him nodding his head sympathetically. A.X. Perez
