Neil Smith's The Libertarian Enterprise Months ago I published an article titled “Denial” which discussed how certain people like to remain in a state of willful ignorance when it comes to the atrocities that were committed in the name of the very ideology that they claim to be morally superior to all others. I discussed the Nazi sympathizers who denied that the Holocaust ever happened, as well as the Japanese nationalist who like to deny or downplay the atrocities committed by their servicemen during the Second World War. Then there is the denial of certain people on the left that refuse to accept that Communism has done nothing but bring more oppression and genocide to the world. It wasn‘t until a few weeks ago that I realized that I forgotten about the infamous Armenian genocide perpetrated by the Turkish government. For those who don‘t know about this little incident, it took place right after the First World War, when the Turkish government finally decided that they could no longer stand the sight of the Christian minority known as the Armenians and decided to wipe them off the face of the Earth. Like the other holocausts that I just mentioned, denial runs rampant among modern day Turks. I remember a professor I had when I took a course on Middle Eastern history, who said that he came across a Turkish student who referred to the Armenian genocide as “Armenian Propaganda.” The sad part about this kid‘s denial is that this isn‘t even the craziest thing that I have heard regarding the Armenian genocide. The reason why I even gave this whole thing a second thought was because of a YouTuber named Atheist-is-Unstoppable and a show called “The Young Turks.” You may have heard of “The Young Turks” since they are the largest online news show on the net. It at one point had two billion views, which is something that I find very disturbing. I can honestly say that I have never thought much of the show because it pretty much reminds me of all the left-wing drivel that I see on every other mainstream news station. Like most left-wing commentators and reporters, the hosts of the show are usually pretty smug and self-righteous, while showing how clueless they are about how the world works. Sadly that is actually one of their better qualities. As for Atheist-is-Unstoppable, aka ’Atheist Roo” due to him using an image of a Kangaroo as his mascot for his videos, the channel was originally created to bash religious fanatics, but lately he has actually been spending more time attacking left-wingers or regressives as he likes to call them, who are riddled with white guilt and are sympathetic towards radical Islam. Keep in mind this man is as left- wing as one gets. He is anti-gun, anti-fracking and has many other left-wing positions that I find abhorrent. Putting these things aside, I have to say that I have much respect for the man. Roo has called out his fellow atheists and his fellow lefties on issues, such as radical Islam and white guilt, which has gotten him branded as a racist. Men with lesser convictions would have retracted their statements and begged forgiveness from the Easily Offended. Instead he has stood his ground and has refused to apologize for any of his positions. For that alone he has my respect. The reason why I mention Atheist Roo is because one his favorite punching bags just happens to be “The Young Turks.” He has been constantly slamming (curb stomping as he likes to call it) the Turks for acting as apologists for radical Islam. They always make excuses for fanatical Muslims by using a series of strawman arguments and false equivalents. Roo likes to dissect their videos point by point so he can effectively tear their arguments into tiny bits of confetti. Though the one particular video that I found somewhat telling was the video where Roo pointed out that the host of the show, Cenk Uygur, had written a “scholarly” article where he questioned the historicity of the Armenian Genocide. At first I couldn‘t believe it. I had to do my own search to see it for myself. I can honestly say that I have never been a fan of Cenk Uygur, but I never would have dreamed that my opinion of this man could sink any lower. Even before I had discovered that this man was a denier of the Armenian Holocaust, I didn‘t think that intellectual honesty was this man‘s strong suit. Just imagine how I feel about him now. To top it all off, the show shares the same name of those who helped perpetrate the atrocities committed against the Armenians. Talk about adding insult to injury. Actually it gets even better. Can you guess the ancestry of Anna Kasparian, one of the show‘s co-hosts? If you said Armenian, then you are sadly right. The only way I can imagine someone being any more self-hating, is if there was a Jewish person who went to work as a co- host on a show called “The Young Eichmanns” while wearing the same stripped uniform that concentration inmates had to wear. Since that hasn‘t happened, yet, I think Anna is the queen of self-loathing. Seriously Anna, where is your self-respect? For that matter, how is it that somebody like Cenk Uygur can deny something as monstrous and evil as the genocide of an entire people and still have any ounce of credibility to his name? Whenever you have somebody who denies the Holocaust perpetrated by Nazi Germany he usually ends up shunned or ridiculed by mainstream society. Yet somehow this guy is able to host the largest news show on the net. I guess it probably has more to the do with the sad fact that the Armenian holocaust isn‘t as well known as the Jewish holocaust. That is probably why we don‘t see an Armenian version of the Anti-Defamation League. We should never forget that this scumbag, Crenk Uygur is trying his best to whitewash one of the worst atrocities of the Twentieth Century and we should make sure that it follows him around for the rest of his life. Crenk Uygur, I can honestly say that I have never been a fan of yours, but now I think you are a disgrace to both journalism and political commentary. I have gotten to the point where I can‘t even stand the sight of you. Thank you for writing that sorry excuse for an academic paper because that showed your true colors better than anything else that you have ever said or done. Ann, I am not going to pretend that I have been particulary fond of your work either, since I am a libertarian. Still, I think a woman like you who is both intelligent and attractive could do much better than having to work with a man who tried to whitewash the atrocities committed against your ancestors. Doing coffee runs for The Blaze would be more dignified then working with Crenk Uygur. Atheist Roo, keep up the good work and never let up on these jokers.
