This Time
The Santa Fe POS did not use an “assault rifle” to do his evil. He used a traditional shotgun and a .38 Special revolver. The antigun media can not blame the murders the POS committed on their villain of choice.
They can not call for stricter gun laws and tell the owners of traditional weapons “we are not coming after your guns,” they visibly are this time. They cannot invite the owners of traditional guns to throw the owners of “assault weapons” under the bus in exchange for being allowed to keep their weapons.
This time we are all “ communists, homosexuals, Jews, and Catholics,” we can not pretend it's someone else having his rights trashed, but ours are safe.
We can no longer look away from what the victim disarmers want, because this time they can not lie.

The author does not go far enough. They actually want you dead. To die by attrition be it at the hands of criminals after they’ve succeeded in disarming you or freezing to death in the winter because you can’t afford or can’t get fuel to heat your home. Or by a thousand small cuts from the hardship inflicted by a myriad of bad policies that impact on your livelihood and undermine your ability to make ends meet. Or cumulative stresses that undermine your general immunity and make you more susceptible to illness. Think of is as a slow motion version of the nazi holocaust spread out over a greater span of time. Death by attrition without the trouble of rounding up people and putting them in death camps.
