It is nothing but a cheesy protection
racket to “license” businesses to operate.

Nothing to Fear
I quote the following:
“You have deep-seated survival anxieties. And you
don’t like bigots, bullies, snobs, or hypocrites. Subconsciously there
are many people you hate.”
“Consciously, sir, consciously,” Yossarian corrected in an effort
to help. “I hate them consciously.”
“You’re antagonistic to the idea of being robbed, exploited,
degraded, humiliated, or deceived. Misery depresses you. Ignorance
depresses you. Persecution depresses you. Violence depresses you.
Corruption depresses you. You know, it wouldn’t surprise me if you’re a
manic-depressive!”
“Yes, sir. Perhaps I am.”
“Don’t try to deny it.”
“I’m not denying it, sir,” said Yossarian, pleased with the
miraculous rapport that finally existed between them. “I agree with all
you’ve said.”
—Joseph Heller, Catch 22
Recently someone wrote an article asserting that conservatives are driven by fear and liberals by hope. I consider myself to be subject to a fear of tyranny (Tyrannophobia). I’ve noticed that many so called liberals are driven by a fear of other people’s freedom (Eleutherophobia). They fear our freedom to speak the truth s we understand it; to arm ourselves to defend our lives, loved ones, and property; to acquire and enjoy said property; to choose whom we love and whom we want to fuck (2 different things and I wish people would stop conflating them because sometimes they are congruent sets but nowhere near all the time); to prosper by criteria they did not select; to eat, drink, and smoke what we want.
I don’t see how people ruled by fear get off calling themselves progressive or liberal.
Rather than be ruled by fear I think I will choose to be ruled by love. Love of life, love of family and friends, and love of liberty. This last is called eleutherophilia or eleutheriomania, an irrational love of freedom. Call me foolish, call me crazy, call me anything except late to dinner.
Dambetcha I’ll have more fun this way.
