I think part of the reason that liberals
are so fanatical about defending Roe
vs. Wade is because almost all their
big gains were not gained by appealing to
a majority of voters, but by court decisions.

The Ngu Family Saga
To answer a frequently-asked question or two: if you’re not familiar with L. Neil Smith’s “Ngu Family Saga”, start with _Pallas, available from Phoenix Pick through L. Neil Smith’s The Libertarian Enterprise “Free Radical Bookstore”. The next volume, Ares has just gone to the publisher, and will be available in time for Christmas. Then read Ceres. It’s already out there. After that, I’m planning two more Ngu Family Saga books, Beautiful Dreamer, and Rosalie’s World.
And by all means, don’t miss Only the Young Die Good, sequel to Sweeter Than Wine. It’s the blood. It’s always the blood.

Was that worth reading?
Then why not:
Parcels
Received two knives this week. The first was an Auto 110 Buck Folding Hunter. Got a decent discount and free shipping. Razor sharp, need to break in sheath. It’s of the rounded edged handle type instead of the square edged handle type of my youth and early adulthood. It looks to be a decent chore knife.
I won’t say it’s not a fighting knife, but to be honest if I was pretty sure of getting into a fight and using a folding knife as my main weapon (why?) I’d be carrying a Cold Steel Spartan or a Benchmade Bedlam (auto or not). A fixed blade Bowie or dagger makes better sense, a pistol even better.
Still, an automatic Folding Hunter is cool and it is reasonably practical. If you are in a place where carrying one is legal and such is your thing, I encourage you to go for it. The pleasure you get from carrying it for swag will increase the odds you’ll have it on you when you need it, hopefully for peaceful chores.
The other knife I received was a little 2.5 inch blade gift from the NRA for renewing my membership. I’ve got one or two others. While many complain about the NRA being weak on gun rights (no argument, the ILA should push harder) Hillary Clinton did say we are her enemy. As a knife it is less than impressive, decent steel but needs sharpening. It is a momento this year of opposing the enemies of the Second Amendment.
Two knives, one yet to be used to work, one that has already done a job.
