DOWN WITH POWER
Narrated by talk show host, Brian Wilson, “Down With Power” a Libertarian
Manifesto, by L. Neil Smith now downloadable as an audiobook!
L. Neil Smith’s THE LIBERTARIAN ENTERPRISE
Number 1,034, August 18, 2019

It’s 2 parts Marx and 1 part Rosseau. It is
the ignorance and disdain of the moneyed for
what the working class has to do to survive,
coupled with a naive certainty that rural
work is sort of like gardening and beautiful.

Re: “They’ll say it’s ‘time for some serious questions’ … and then ignore all of these:”, by Vin Suprynowicz

There has been some question as to why there was no one shooting back at the POS who shot up the Wal Mart in El Paso.

The answer comes down to a perfect storm of victim disarmament. Jealous as people in El Paso seem to be of our 2nd Amendment rights, the fact is most of us believe our guns belong at home. El Paso is also a mostly “Blue” city, again, discourages people going heeled. A lot of the shoppers who take their custom to that particular Wal Mart are Mexican residents who cross the Border to shop, meaning they mostly likely don’t own guns (six of the dead were Mexican citizens, one was a German citizen living in Mexico) to carry, never mind problems with moving weapons back and forth across the Border. A lot of the people at the store were kids and their moms and grandparents shopping for school supplies (one victim was a 15 boy), people who just don’t pack. And El Paso really is extremely safe which leads to complacency, trust that you don’t need to go heeled. Finally, The store is in the parking lot of a Mall that bans guns. How many people were at Wal Mart planning to go to the gun free mall afterwards?

Bottom line, the Wal Mart at Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso was as close to a gun free zone without being one you will ever see. The victims were part of a naïve population, and a particularly naïve part of that population at that. (For example, I have observed people packing at the Wal Marts nearer Fort Bliss.)

I confess, I used to think about whether I really need to carry a pistol to go to the store. Now I wonder how many extra mags to take with me. And I’m even more careful to take a sword cane if I’m going where I can’t take a gun.

I’ve been keeping out of places which don’t allow guns as much as possible. I have become a lot less complacent, confident that a sword cane or knife was enough. (Robber/ most attackers contact range in EPT).

El Pasoans are really peaceful, friendly and mellow. Now more of us will be peaceful, friendly, mellow, and armed. Pro pacem and all that.

Italy’s Interior Minister Had the Perfect Response to Richard Gere Intervening in Country’s Immigration Issues

“He should take them home and take care of them himself in his own villas” says an Italian government official. That’s a priceless response to a limousine liberal from Hollywood who goes around lecturing other people to take on social burdens and endure personal sacrifice and to live in a world they’re prescribing for everyone else but won’t live in themselves. So much for the idea we ought to be more like Europe as they’ve long said to the point of insufferable annoyance.

It Boils Down to Perspective
This is straight forward country thinking.

by Jeff Foxworthy

Which side of the fence?
If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

If a Republican doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a Democrat doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat
If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
If a Democrat is down-and-out he wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a Republican doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
A Democrat demands that those they don't like be shut down.

If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
If a Democrat decides he needs health care, he demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a Republican is unhappy with an election, he grumbles and goes to work the next day.
If a Democrat is unhappy with an election, he burns down a Starbucks, throws rocks at cops and takes two-weeks off for therapy.

If a Republican reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A Democrat will delete it because he's “offended.”

July 2019 Was Not the Warmest on Record
by Roy Spencer, PhD.

We are now seeing news reports (e.g. CNN, BBC, Reuters) that July 2019 was the hottest month on record for global average surface air temperatures.

One would think that the very best data would be used to make this assessment. After all, it comes from official government sources (such as NOAA, and the World Meteorological Organization [WMO]).

But current official pronouncements of global temperature records come from a fairly limited and error-prone array of thermometers which were never intended to measure global temperature trends. The global surface thermometer network has three major problems when it comes to getting global-average temperatures:
