Hands Off The Internet—Abolish the FCC!
by L. Neil Smith
It has taken me an unusually long time to get this particular article started. Individual freedom of expression has always been the most important political and social issue to me; I have resisted being shut up by the authorities all of my life. I did know what it had to say: The Federal Communications Commission must be abolished and Obama impeached!

Protected My Ass—The Bottom Line
by L. Reichard White
Consider the most well-protected man in the world—You may remember the headlines. The knife-toting 42 year old Marine vet, Omar J. Gonzalez, who made it over the White House fence, through the front doors, and deep into the heart of the presidential mansion. Despite the Secret Service and five levels of security.

A Tale of Two Newts: Prohibition Rears it's Ugly Head AGAIN!
by Jeff Fullerton
The last few weeks have been fertile for philosophical contemplation. Between the ongoing crusades to ban wood stoves and furnaces and Glenn Beck's second Agenda 21 novel I am a bit fired up to say the least in regard to the alarming efforts to undermine human freedom and personal independence in the name of saving the planet.

Neale's Weekly Gun Rant for 2-15-15
by Neale Osborn
We're going to start this off with an interesting piece of writing from Mama Liberty. (WHY does this seem familiar? Oh yeah! That's how we start EVERY Rant we can!!) This one is one Impaired Self Defense. Okay, get OFF you're high horse—she's NOT saying run out, get drunk, and defend yourself.

The Brute-Force Left
The Left lost the argument, but is determined to win the fight.

by Kevin D. Williamson

All of those are relevant, but consider one further, broader dynamic at work: The Right is finally coming around to the understanding that what mainly distinguishes it from the Left is not its general preference for muscular foreign policy, its not always convincing defense of the Judeo- Christian tradition, or even its relatively faithful reading of the Constitution, as important as those things are. Rather, the fight between Right and Left is about coercion.

If you have wondered why the science fiction on the shelves and in the eStore has deteriorated in both quality and quantity these last few years, here is why:

The Hugo Wars: How Sci-fi's Most Prestigious Awards Became a Political Battleground
by Allum Bokhari & Milo Yiannopoulos
Few walks of life are today immune to the spectre of political intolerance. At universities, speaker disinvitations and censorship campaigns are at an all-time high. In technology, there are purges of chief executives with the wrong political views and executives who make the wrong sort of joke. In the world of video games, petitions are launched against "offensive" titles, and progressive journalists wage smear campaigns against conservative developers.

It may not, therefore, surprise you to learn that similar occurrences are taking place in the science-fiction and fantasy (SFF) community, too. Previously a world renowned for the breadth of its perspectives, SFF increasingly bears the familiar hallmarks of an ideological battleground.

The story begins, as ever, with a small group of social justice-minded community elites who sought to establish themselves as the arbiters of social mores. This group would decide who deserved a presence in SFF and who deserved to be ostracised.

Public university spends $16K on campaign to warn students to watch what they say
by Samantha Audia
'Inclusive Language Campaign' debuts at University of Michigan

Dozens of posters plastered across the University of Michigan caution students not to say things that might hurt others' feelings, part of a new "Inclusive Language Campaign" at the state's flagship public university that cost $16,000 to implement.

University spokesman Rick Fitzgerald told The College Fix in an email the campaign aims to "address campus climate by helping individuals understand that their words can impact someone and to encourage individuals to commit to creating a positive campus community."
