“Gun control is the idea that it‘s better to see a woman dead in an alley, strangled
with her own pantyhose, than to see her with a gun in her hand.”—T.D. Melrose

With Friends Like These …
by L. Neil Smith
>A late newspaper columnist named Sam Francis (ultimately denounced by the left as a racist, of course) once said that America is ruled by an Evil party (the Democrats) and a Stupid party (the Republicans). To “stupid”, I would rush to add “cowardly”: when the GOP finally got a leader with a spine and testicles and guts (extremely rare qualities among Republicans), they were so terrified of of the man that they betrayed and abandoned him. A third political party, the Libertarians, seems determined to be even more spineless, balless, and gutless; they have specialized for years in nominating con-men and crooks for President.

The Cake Is A Lie
by Sarah A. Hoyt
There is no cake. The cake is a lie. What’s more, it always was and it always will be. Last week I was treated second hand—not first, because I’ve blocked the individual’s delusional ass some time back—to the spectacle of a man 20 years older than I arguing in public that having to work for a living is a bad side effect of capitalism, and that “Wage slavery” is in fact slavery, which only exists because the evil capitalists want to step on the common man.

Apology for a Thin Dribble
by Sean Gabb
There was a time when I would turn out thousands of words a week on politics. In the past year, I have slowed down. What used to be a gush of words has become a thin dribble. The reasons for this? One is that I have become busier than I could once have imagined with teaching the ancient languages. I have classes and private students all over the world, and I am often up half the night making unlisted YouTube videos on Greek and Latin grammar. The other reason still shocks me and ought to shock others. This is that I am, for the first time in my life, scared to write about politics. I find that I have an hour free of other duties. I open Word for Windows and start writing. Then I stop. I ask myself: “Will this get me into some kind of trouble?” Sometimes the answer is: “Yes—this will get me into trouble.” More often, it is: “I don’t know, but better safe than sorry.” The result is the same. I close the Word document and turn back to Livy or Herodotus or the editing of a video on the present participle in Latin.

So, Was it an “Insurrection” or Just Another Handschu Scam??
by L. Reichard White
What's a "Handschu Scam" and what, if anything, does it have to do with the alleged terrorist plot to kidnap Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer, the latest fiasco in the U.S. "Justice" Department's Julian Assange farce, and the January 6, 2021 D.C. riot, mega-hyped into an "insurrection" to satisfy the gullible?
