“Gun control is the idea that it‘s better to see a woman dead in an alley, strangled
with her own pantyhose, than to see her with a gun in her hand.”—T.D. Melrose

Sex, Drugs, and Voter Registration
by L. Neil Smith
*BLAST FROM THE PAST* Childhood isn’t what it used to be—and neither is adulthood. To justify its vicious, cloying, and illegal dominion over our existence, today’s American Security State makes the absurd claim that we’re all children who can’t be trusted, even to own and operate our own lives. We’re all too familiar with the terrible ramifications this has for grownups. What it does to kids may be even worse. They get shoved down a notch to make room for us.

One Step
by Sarah A. Hoyt
It is important not to attribute magical powers to the other side. Yes, they do have plans, and they post them quite blatantly. Part of this is to convince themselves and those on their side that everything is going fine. Look, there’s a plan!

Towards a Better Understanding of Americans Political Leanings Part 1
by Adam Baldwin
This email is sent in the spirit of better knowing ourselves and our political rivals. This is a synopsis (condensed version, I have borrowed liberally from the report.) of a report done recently by Pew Research on better understanding American’s political loyalties plus commentary of mine on this Pew Research report. As someone who tries to keep an open mind and enjoys listening to people who’s views whom I do not agree with in conversation; I find this report by Pew Research to explain how these differing political views of other Americans fit into the overall framework of America’s current political landscape.

Why BqETH and Why Now?
by Jim Davidson
I’ve taken the liberty of paraphrasing Dan Bongino’s quote. He gets a free plug for his Parallel Economy web site which I’ve not investigated. But the concept of a free and open internet is good, and if “fair” means censorship resistant, great. I leave it to you to evaluate.

Help Yourself to an Abandoned Russian Tank? Why Not?
by Mike Blessing
A few days ago, Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty [RFE / RL] re-posted a video clip ("Ukrainian Tractors Versus Russian Armor") on Facebook and YouTube — So when the hoplophobes and victim disarmers start screeching "u think you should be able 2 own a TANK?!?!?!!!!!!" because you support civilian ownership and carriage of handguns and military-pattern rifles, you can simply point to those Ukrainian farmers making off with abandoned Russian tanks, BMPs, and trucks.

Let’s Talk About Control
by Cathy L.Z. Smith
Internal control should reasonably presume that the inhabitants of a polity are in agreement with, or at a minimum have an understanding of, the cultural parameters and imperatives* that exist within that defined space coupled with an understanding of the penalties for transgression against those parameters and imperatives, and that those penalties should be applied without prejudice or favor.

As the World Burns Part 2
Hanging Out and Doubling Down in the World of Atlas Shrugged

by Jeff Fullerton
Another week in Paradise. What’s left of it. Lately it looks like it’s days may be numbered.

The Freezer’s Last Move
A Story
by David M. Brown
Corby Vash got started on the fence. He worked quickly. The work was simple but hard. The slats were aluminum and had a coating that made them very slippery. Despite his experience building a few other fences, Vash was no expert, not with these particular materials. But after he had installed a small section and redone it twice because of unevenness and inadequate anchoring of the slats and cross ties, the proper method, not fully explained in the instructions, became clear, and he was able to proceed with top efficiency. A YouTube video helped.
