Conservative Youth Group Urges Boycott of the NRA

NRA, in an Act of Political Prostitution, Supports Gun Control

San Bernardino, CA - Last night, at a meeting of the San Bernardino National Rifle Association, members of California Young Americans for Freedom (Cal YAF) heard California NRA Grassroots Director Ed Worley urge San Bernardino NRA members to support State Senator Joe Baca in the special election for the 42nd District Congressional seat vacated by the late George Brown.
Cal YAF members attended the meeting to hand out literature detailing Baca's anti-gun votes to the NRA members in attendance. Baca was the principal co-author of AB 295, which placed even more regulations on gun shows. Baca also voted for AB 1142 and SB 130. AB 1142 would regulate how a gun is stored in a person's private home and set penalties if they stored it otherwise and SB 130 was a government mandated trigger lock program.
The CA NRA took no stand on AB 295, which was supported by the gun show promoters who bowed down to the gun control advocates. The CA NRA initially opposed AB 1142 but changed their position to neutral for a watered down version of the same bill. The CA NRA opposed SB 130.
"From the time Joe Baca began running for Congress in mid-July, he did not vote against a single gun control bill," said Cal YAF Advisory Board Member and State Senator Ray Haynes (R-Riverside). "Joe Baca is a fair-weather friend who cannot be trusted to oppose in Congress what he refused to oppose in Sacramento," added Haynes.
"The NRA is part of the problem, they are worse than Handgun Control, Inc.," said Chad Morgan, Chairman of Orange County YAF. "At least with Handgun Control, Inc., you know that they stand against freedom. The NRA appears to support the rights of gun owners and then they turn around and support someone who will allow our rights to be taken away piece by piece," added Morgan.
"The NRA has turned the way of political prostitution; they are selling their values and ethics for a false hope of buying legislators," said Darren Marks, a California YAF State Director.
Members of Cal YAF will be turning in their memberships to the NRA and will be asking anyone who supports the rights of gun owners to do the same.

Young Americans for Freedom, founded September 11, 1960 in Sharon, CT is the nation's oldest, largest and most active conservative youth organization.

All In All, You're Just Another Brick In The Wall ...

"The idea of uniformed school children is catching on in many Kansas schools.

"But Senate Majority Leader Tim Emert wants to take the idea a step further by requiring every student in Kansas public schools to wear a uniform.

"The Independence Republican has filed legislation requiring local school boards to adopt dress codes that would mandate the wearing of uniforms to class and all school-supervised activities."

Hope Springs Eternal

"I regret greatly the actions of President Clinton. I hope the committee will learn more about his motivations and the process so that it's never repeated." - Sen. Robert Torricelli (SOCIALIST-NJ) on Clinton's invocation of executive privilege in the FALN clemency action

"We know that there is nothing we can do to assure that this will never happen. But there is a lot more we can do to assure it will happen more rarely. I can only hope that the shock of this event will spur that kind of action." - Pres. William Clinton (NAZI-AR) on the Ft. Worth church shooting
