Letter from Ward Griffiths

Contrary to Joseph Knight's letter in TLE 391, there is such a thing as a fair tax, and if the LP had any balls, it would be a big plank on the platform. The proper tax rate is Zero per cent, whether on income, capital gains, purchases, property or anything else.

I've long wondered why they call that added percentage on your receipt a "sales" tax. The tax is on the purchaser, the salesman is merely the delegated tax collector.
