EDITORIAL MATTERS:

It's snowing again. What I'd like to know is when we're going to get some of that gosh-danged ol' globular warming. Mostly we're getting that globular cooling. I guess that will teach me to live in the mountains.

Or will it?

Anyway, it's Reader Supported Time, Readers. Them electric and phone/ISP bills wouldn't be such a pain if they didn't come in every month just monthly-like. So if you yourself are a Reader, why not support this here Reader Supported publication by throwing some cash money our way via this link:

http://www.ncc-1776.org/donate.html

as well as clicking on our advertiser and affiliate links and buying youself some of that stuff you want and need -- we get a cut! Not, not a paper cut, a cash cut. That's the best kind, yep.

Oh, and in case you haven't noticed it yet we've got some new ads that pop-up a pop-over. . . so to speak. Just look for the "skip this ad" link, and please don't be annoyed with us, we're getting tired of what they call "grinding poverty" here—grinding cold is making it worse! And dig- (and Digg-) in and enjoy Issue Number 401!

Am I the NRA?
by L. Neil Smith
This coming August I'll have been a Life member of the National Rifle Association 22 years. If you're not a member yourself, it may surprise you to learn that, by the standards of that organization, born just after the War between the States, this isn't particularly long. I know people who've been in the NRA twice as long as I have, and one or two who've been members three times that number of years.

The Problem With Global Warming
by Jonathan David Morris
On Saturday, January 6, 2007, it was 70 degrees where I live. People were wearing t-shirts, shorts, and sandals as they walked down the street. I even drove to the store with my windows rolled down and my sunroof open.

Racism and Entitlement
by Andrew G. Eggleston Sr.
I don't like being told how I'm supposed to think, talk, or act, and yet everyday as I speak out on behalf of the rights of all people I'm told I'm a dreamer, an idealist, or some other form of fantasy supporter. Everyone in this nation is allowed to like and hate on his or her own terms, they're free to share their opinions to any who will listen, so why are the minorities of this country constantly demanding entitlement? As if being born freckled wasn't a curse? How about the curse of my disability, can I call a spade a spade because I've got one foot over the grave? Why can only non-white minorities get away with litigation because someone didn't want to hire their lazy entitled ass? Below is an e-mail I received, I like its content, but I like its message more.

Why Did it Have to be. . . Guns?
by L. Neil Smith
Over the past 30 years, I've been paid to write almost two million words, every one of which, sooner or later, came back to the issue of guns and gun-ownership. Naturally, I've thought about the issue a lot, and it has always determined the way I vote.
