I was reading here and there this week, and came across this quote:
Most editors are desperate for anything of value to print. Each
and every issue, forever and ever, they have this gaping maw to
shovel articles into.

The Incredible Secret Money Machine
I must agree. Help the desperate editor out, folks, write articles
for TLE, fill that gaping maw! (We pay nothing, of course.)
Speaking of helping us out, as a Reader Supported Publication, we
depend on our readers to also supply some cash to help pay our bills so
we can keep going. There are several ways you can do that, starting
with clicking on our various affiliate links and buying stuff. You
can also just send us some cash:

Note that starting this issue, we are replacing our affiliate
"The Vitamin Shoppe" with "eVitamins". Be healthy! Take your
vitamins! (Didn't you notice those news articles about vitamin
D and foliate (and probably maybe all B-Vitamins) helping prevent
cancer? You don't want cancer! Click-and-buy, stay healthy, and
help TLE stay healthy too!)
Shop at eVitamins and save money!
And now start reading this, the 421st issue.

Scary Things
by James Glaser
I just got home from the Future of Freedom Foundation's
conference on "Restoring the Republic: Foreign Policy & Civil Liberties."
I was looking over my notes, and one thing that really jumped out at me
was the pessimism with which almost every speaker held for the future of
our country.

The Government That Cried Wolf
by Darian Worden
Once again the government and media have done their
best to exaggerate a threat to our safety. The hysteria over the alleged
plot to attack Kennedy International Airport brings to mind Mencken's
observation that "The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the
populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing
it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary."

Immigration Control is UN-Constitutional!
A review of U.S. Constitution & immigration history
by Dennis Lee Wilson
In my article "Ask the Right Question, an interview
with a Neo-LINO", I made the case for immigration control being immoral
and UN-libertarian. I neglected to make the point that it is also
UN-Constitutional. During recent on-line discussions with a Neo-LINO,
it became apparent to me that many people are unaware of the actual
history of immigration in this country and are either unaware of or
deliberately ignoring the fact that the Constitution does NOT AUTHORIZE
the U.S. government to control immigration. Even Dr. NO, the "Constitutional"
Congressman and Presidential Candidate, Ron Paul misses this point. He
recently said "Immigration reform should start with improving our border
protection". What happened to his oft repeated position that Congress
should obey the Constitution?

Why libertarianism fails (so far)

Adam Knott has written a very interesting essay on
the subject of libertarianism. My friends at the International Society
