The Res Nostra I'm sure that many people who read TLE view the government as a legalized mob. While this is insulting to most mobsters let us reexamine the Social Contract theory in light of this; whether we have a res publica (a government created to guarantee citizens' rights) or a res nostra (a government created by the Mob to sell us back some of our rights). OK. I confess to creating a neologism. The English language now has 2 billion and one words.). As Thomas Paine points out, English government (the ancestor of ours) goes back to the Norman Conquest. William the Bastard, Duke of Normandy told the English people, "submit to my rule and pay my taxes or I will hurt you." This is classic protection racketeering. The people pointed out that while William and his Norman Knights were good, if all the people fought they could beat him. William answered this point with four distinct answers: A. Not everyone would fight back, you may not be able to raise enough troops to beat me. Even if you do you will wear yourself out and then the Norse, Scots, and Irish will have their way with you. I'm bad, without me you will be stuck with a worse mess.
The people of England agreed and William changed his sobriquet and title to the Conqueror, King of England. About 940 years later in America we have:
The government promises to protect us from foreign invaders and terrorists (Currently Islamic extremists, Iran, North Korea, and possibly China, assuming the PRC doesn't self-destruct.) and local criminals and terrorists (currently drug smuggler and prison gangs, apparently the KKK and neo-Nazis are languishing from lack of popular and media attention).
Government pays for the court system, schools, roads, hospitals, trains, health services, retirement plans, social services for the poor and middle class and places for public amusement among other things. In some cases it competes with private industry, in others it has a monopoly or near monopoly (primary and secondary education,for example).
It can thus be seen that the government is in many ways a Mob gone legit. Unfortunately, and why so many people wish to limit if not eliminate the Big G altogether, it has not necessarily gone straight. Thus the limits organized crime has to accept (don't provoke the straight citizens to fight back) are not as strict for the government and this leads to tyrannical behavior from time to time. Until we can get a true anarchy going, it would be a good idea to keep after the capos of the Res Nostra to earn and keep the title men (and women) of honor a lot better than they have to date. A.X. Battle Hymn of the Former Republic
Ignore His use of fallacies all known from ages past,
I have seen Him in the straw polls of a hundred circling camps,
I have seen a fiery Waco writ in burnished tanks of steel;
He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call a vote,
Under wilted wreathes of lilies States were born across the sea,
He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave,
J. Martin
Blame It on 9/11 On Friday the 8th of February ABC ran a report on the failure of massacres to provoke a call for gun control. they seemed to lament that the popular reaction was that if the victims had been armed they might have fought back (or fought back more effectively) and kept the body count down. Blame it on 9/11. If W and his handlers can use that to excuse stripping people of their rights then we can use it as a reason to assert our rights to self defense and the necessary tools. Remember that the passengers on three of the planes did not fight back, the way the liberal media and politicians told them to. They died as part of their murderers' weapon. The fourth planeload also died, but they did so frustrating their killers' intent. And the American people learned, or at least a bunch of us did. Submission doesn't work, it's time to fight back even if all you accomplish is to go out in style, end up in Valhalla instead of Helheim. Of course die hard enemies of liberty hate this. They love victims. They praise survivors. But they fear those who fight back against an oppressor, even if that oppressor is a common enemy. They fear this because those who learned to resist one would be oppressor will be inclined to resist all oppressors9/11 woke us up, and too many of us refuse to go back to sleep. And those who would use it as an excuse to steal our freedom had best remember that one balclava wearing terrorist is indistinguishable from another. A.X. Perez
