Abandon the "Peace Movement"!

Attribute to The Libertarian Enterprise

"The state's only function is as an apparatus of coercion and compulsion. That is its distinguishing mark. It is what makes the state the state." — Lew Rockwell

Somebody once said, "If voting made a difference, they wouldn't let you do it," or words to that effect. The same can be said about the leftist-dominated "peace movement" with its silly "die-ins" and all the rest of the brain-dead socialist shenanigans. They haven't made a difference and aren't going to.

Partly this is because the marxist idiots bugger up everything which they touch, but it is also due to the fact that the 60s are long over. What worked then won't necessarily work now. Times have changed, and so must all those who are seriously interested in working for peace and liberty. It's time to abandon the peace marches and start to work against the coercion and compulsion of the state.

In a recent discussion, a university student of my acquaintance assured me that, contrary to my assertion, Canada is not a police state because, "...they still allow you to protest." This tells me two things: that protesting doesn't make a difference and that Canada is in fact a police state; were it not, there would be no discussion of being "allowed" your most basic rights by a state which obviously has the power to dis-allow them.

As police statism creeps and oozes and slithers into every aspect of life, being permitted to protest the state's wars is a distraction from the fact that we are not permitted to file our nails on an airplane or smoke a cigaret in a bar (yes I know the damned things are bad for you, but that's your business, not the state's)! As a matter of fact, the airports of Canada and the USA have become mini-police states where peaceful people are insulted, bullied, humiliated, assaulted and even casually murdered by the TSA, RCMP, and other acronymical maniacs.

You can be stopped on the streets and highways for no other reason than a check to see if your papers are in order, just like in Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia. Cops can and do taser and shoot people, frequently fatally, for spite or just for kicks, knowing that the worst that will happen to them is the usual "thorough and honest investigation" by their own department. While this "investigation" (which is usually only a search for something with which to smear the victims) stumbles bureaucratically on, the perpetrator languishes on "administrative leave",which is a euphemism for a (taxpayer) paid holiday.

Any power which can get away with all this has nothing to fear from protests about its wars, and it knows it. If it can tax and regulate and bully us at home, it will do as it damned well pleases abroad.

The problem we have, therefore, is statism and its ultimate form, imperialism. Statism is the cause of the damned wars, after all, and not "capitalism" and religion as claimed by the stupid "comrades" who infest the peace movement. Those swine endorse statism in its many hideous marxist permutations, so how can they be leading an anti-war movement?! The leftist hacks of the peace movement love the state; they just want to take it over. As Lew Rockwell also pointed out, "Government... is the natural home to [socialists] because their ambition is to control society..."

I suggest that Libertarians abandon the phony "peace movement" and develop an anti-statist movement instead. Only by opposing all forms of police statism, nanny statism, government schools and every interference with the unrestricted movement of people, goods and ideas can we seriously oppose the source of warfare, the damned state. It is only by opposing and subverting the state that we can possibly hope to create an era of...

Peace and Liberty.

Kaptain Kanada, aka Manuel Miles, is a nasty old curmudgeon who lives to torment the God damned nation-State, feminazis, mercantilists, Darwinians, warmongers, socialists, global warmites, Vegans, abortionists, animal rights nutsos, and the "politically correct" of all stripes. He is not a nice man, and you wouldn't want him for a neighbour—at least, that's what his mother says, and she should know. If something he writes upsets you, he won't care; on the contrary, he'll feel that he has succeeded in his efforts.
