THE CURRENT ISSUE

EDITORIAL MATTERS:

Almost no submissions came in this week. Now's your chance to gain fame, fortune and groupies by writing for TLE. And if fame and so on don't come to you, well, they haven't come to me either, but I'm a lumberjack and that's okay! Or something like that.

Thank you to all who have expressed concern over my dear wife after her open-heart surgery. She's doing fine, and getting better every day except the days when she overdoes things and wipes herself out. One day at a time, that's all we ask. One can a week, one day at a time. And so on.

Thank you to all of our Readers who make the effort to lend support to this Reader-Supported eMagazine. In addition to buying youself the stuff you need or want from our affiliate and advertiser links, direct support can be given here:

If this issue seems slightly late, it is. Things like that happen. Yet all is well.

We welcome a new affiliate program this week: AbeBooks.com. A great outfit for finding the book you want. Check 'em out!

The document heavily quoted Robert Mueller, current head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

I Like Reverend Jeremiah Wright
by James Glaser
No, it isn't because the Reverend Wright is a former Marine, and it sure isn't because I think he is such a great speaker. I believe what makes me like the Jeremiah Wright is that he speaks the truth, he helps the homeless, and he feeds the poor. Reverend Wright started his church, Trinity United Church of Christ, in Chicago almost four decades ago, and has devoted his life to that ministry.

Sometimes One Size Does Fit All
by A.X. Perez
Teenage couples have a tendency to make out between classes. Teachers are expected to be sensitive to kids' feelings while making sure their displays of affection don't trigger a fire alarm. I generally handle this by loudly announcing that true love is beautiful but not an excuse for being tardy to class. Youngsters break it up, the legitimacy of their feelings is validated while they are prevented from exceeding the "limits of decency," and everyone makes it to class on time.
