THE LIBERTARIAN ENTERPRISE Number 471, June 8, 2008 "Party like it is 1773" Special to The Libertarian Enterprise I want you to sit down today with your favorite drink, after work, and plan a party. Plan a party with your family, friends, neighbors, whoever you like to party with. Plan a Boston Tea Party. This week, this month, this year, whenever you want, have a Boston Tea Party. Party like it is 1773. Because it is 1773. The tyrannies are here. The usurpations of power are here. The trouble is here. It is time to misbehave. You have a choice. You stand at a crossroads in history. The road forward where the herd is going is toward tyranny, injustice, more socialism, less private property, no privacy. Go with the herd and you are going in an internment camp. Let the herd have its way and you and I and people like us are going to be tortured to death. The people who want to stay in power are going to justify the imprisonment and massacre of millions of Americans because we were inconvenient. Because we wanted freedom. Because we demanded justice. Because we stood up and said, "no more!" So, before they do that to you, throw a party. Do something bold. Throw the King's chartered company's tea in the harbor. Dress up in costumes, put on some war paint, have a dance, throw a fit, get crazy. Make love not war. Bring back streaking. Stamp out things that need stamping out. Do not go quietly into that sad, terrible world of death camps and torture. Do not shuffle down the road to serfdom. Stand up! Put your shoulders back, chin up, chest out, look your would-be masters in the eye, and spit on their faces. Give them a pranging they won't soon forget. Be John Hancock signing the Declaration of Independence in a hand big enough to be seen by the king without his glasses on. Be Paul Revere riding to warn your fellow countrymen of troops on the move. Be proud of your role in history. When your children and grandchildren gather around you many years from now, what do you want to say you did in the Third Great American Revolution? "I shoveled sh!t in Louisiana"? No! You had a blast. Get organized, get rowdy, get busy. I want you all to misbehave. Loudly, madly, deliberately stake your claim to freedom. The time for a change is now. The change you can believe in is the one you make for yourself.
