None of the Above is Acceptable

On June 19th, On another website (LewRockwell.com), I read "Want Change?" by Dr. Paul Hein. I sent the following to the Mr. Rockwell, and received the reply, "Dear Dennis, I don't run responses to columnists, but thank you." I feel the idea is important enough that it needs to get out, so I send it to you in the hope we can start something.

Dr. Hein's main premise is that we should all stay home on election day. This will send a message, that we do not support the regime and that things need to be changed.

I agree with his premise that a message should be sent, but unfortunately, I feel he has reached the wrong conclusion on how to send it. Over the past several election cycles, depending on which references you use, only about 40-60% of the eligible voters have taken the trouble to either go to the polls on election day, or to submit absentee ballots. The republocrats are used to us staying home. There is no message there, they are willing to accept. If we don't participate, we are ignored, or even maligned. How many times have you heard, "If you don't vote, don't complain"; as if choosing NOT to support anyone, to be unamerican. Even though elections are settled with less than a majority percentage of eligible voters, the media will judge whether a candidate has or has not recieved a popular "mandate" to carry out his policies, programs, and promises.

I agree a message must be sent. I believe this message (for now) must be non-violent. I believe that writing in "none of the above is acceptable" can and should be the way to send this message. NOTAA relieves us who choose to vote, the unpalatable choice of "choosing the lesser of two evils." The lesser of two evils is still evil and deserves no one's support.

NOTAA tells everyone, republican, democrat, libertarian, green, etc., "You have to do better than this."

But most importantly, NOTAA informs the establishment media and everyone else, there is no mandate. We want change. Real change.

We want someone who will obey the original contract (the Constitution).
