Most evil ... is brought about by those seeking a lesser of two evils From the very first sentence, I considered this article by Lew Rockwell so good that I reopened my DIGG account. The second sentence was even better!!

Guys, I don't usually forward any of the neverending stream of email "jokes" most of us have seen since 1992 or thereabouts but this one was good enough that, on the offchance you haven't seen it yet, I wanted to pass it on. Regards,
Re: "Letter from Craig Good, The Appleseed Project" Mr Craig Good's letter of last week, while promoting the laudable cause of citizen marksmanship, contained a couple of inaccuracies which I would like to correct. First, the statement that, "All throughout American history, the rifleman has been defined as a marksman capable of hitting a man- sized target from 500 yards away -- no ifs, ands or buts about it," cannot be correct if one counts American history as beginning in the late 1700s or even early 1800s. The muskets fired by the Minutemen and the Continental Army were not capable of firing the distance of 500 yards; they didn't fire one fifth that distance. Hence the command at Bunker Hill (and Breed's Hill) to nervous citizen soldiers not to fire "...until you see the whites of their eyes." A target much farther off was going to be out of effective range. Second, much though it grates on the sensitivities of Americans who have been brainwashed with "American history [sic]" class through 12 years of government schooling, the historical fact is that the French navy won the American Revolutionary War, no ifs ands or buts about it. A prolonged, see-sawing stalemate was broken when the French fleet suddenly appeared and blocked the sea behind a large British army, causing an unforeseeable, disastrous hindrance to its manoeuvrability. The greatest asset the Revolutionaries had was a stubborn refusal to be cowered or to quit. That said, a well-regulated (meaning "well-trained" in modern English) militia (armed citizenry) is one heck of a good idea and can only be an asset to any struggle for... Peace and Liberty. Challenging the Administration I confess: the article published in TLE under the title "Will the BATFE Be Fixed" was submitted without a title. I like the one the editor picked because it reminds me of a joke about the ultimate way of letting an overly aggressive male dog or cat know who the boss is. And no, I really don't expect the bunch coming in to power January 2009 to fix the BATFE, but we can always throw that challenge out and see how they deal with it (poorly I'll bet.). Second challenge: There are in fact some points on which libertarians and liberals agree. We need to challenge Mr. Obama and company to pursue these goals, in fact we need to demand that they pursue them. However, don't be surprised if they are "traded off" for more "important goals" or to maintain a "bipartisan spirit." By their fruit shall you know them. A.X Perez
It's a romantic full moon, when Pedro said, "Hey, mamacita, let's do Weeweechu." Oh no, not now, let's look at the moon!" said Rosita. Oh, c'mon baby, let's you and I do Weeweechu. I love you and it's the perfect time," Pedro begged. "But I wanna just hold your hand and watch the moon." replied Rosita. Please, corazoncito, just once, do Weeweechu with me." Rosita looked at Pedro and said, "OK, one time, we'll do Weeweechu." Pedro grabbed his guitar and they both sang..... "Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year." MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!! Dave Earnest
[Ol' Dave should be ashamed of hisself, but I bet he's not -- Editor] In the book Eaters of the Dead (re-released and made into a movie under the title The 13th Warrior) one of Beowulf's Vikings tells the boss he will take care of a problem for him and to stay out of it so Beowulf's hands would stay clean. Shortly thereafter the prince who's giving Beowulf trouble's favorite enforcer is killed by said Viking in a duel as a warning to the prince. Recently Governor Blagejovich of Illinois was busted for putting President-elect Barack Obama's Senate seat up for sale. Senator Obama claims he had no idea what was going on, his people say they had no idea what was going on, and I'm sure they didn't. Perhaps the FBI was carrying out its legitimate duty and God bless them for it. Or maybe they were sending their future boss a message: Take care of us and we'll take care of you, don't take care of us and we'll take care of you. The Federal bureaucracy is ready to pay back the new boss if he backs them up, and ready to collect payback if he doesn't. A former Daley Machine ward healer should get the message. Meanwhile Blagejovich should count his blessings. He could have been treated like a "troublesome priest." A.X. Perex
