Assault Weapons Ban—Wrong Again

The assault weapons ban of 1994 was wrong. It was a bad law. It infringed the right to keep and bear arms. It also made idiotic and ridiculous distinctions amongst items of ordinary sheet metal and plastic. The world was a slightly better place when it expired in 2004—in spite of ignoramus tyrant George W. Bush's promise to sign into law an extension if Congress would only pass one.

Now attorney generalissimo and all-around bad guy Eric Holder—who thinks Americans are cowards (or was that only white Americans)—has announced he plans to bring back the bad law. Here is ABC News on the new policy to encourage criminals and disarm Americans.

ABC's Jason Ryan reports, "Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border."

This argument is bunk. Mexico would be better off, and Mexicans would be better able to resist the drug cartels, if the Mexican people were better armed. Reducing the availability of guns doesn't prevent criminals from getting them and using them in crimes. It does prevent people from being able to resist tyranny, whether from drug cartels or from government.

The Obama government wants to take away your guns, all of them. HR 45 and this new assault weapons ban are just two of the ways in which Democrats seek to disarm you.

They want to disarm you for two reasons. First, they would rather see the men and women of this country raped and killed than see them defend themselves with guns.

Second, the Democrats would rather disarm you so they can send troops door to door to take your stuff to pay off the government's debts to China and Europe. They also want to be able to herd dissidents into cattle cars so they can be slaughtered.

Anyone who says otherwise is a fool or a liar, or both.
