THE CURRENT ISSUE

EDITORIAL MATTERS:

egg with 2 yolks
Two-yolked egg

Back in Feburary of 2005 (Issue No. 305) I "printed" the above pic of a double-yolk egg I'd broken into my breakfast pan. And today, about 3,160 or so eggs later, I got another one. The digital camera is broken now (I feel the same way!), so I'm re-running the old picture. How about that?

They fitted Holder with a Holter last Friday. I wore it for 24-hours and then they de-fitted it. So now they've got 24-hours worth of my ticker ticking, and the doctors will take a look at to see if something funny is going on. Well, "funny" as in "not-funny". Meanwhile, the beat goes on.

We are still running our poll:

Mass-Shootings
Do you suspect, however reluctantly, that at least some of the mass-shootings over the past two or three decades were deliberately engineered to achieve a political goal?

Yes
No
Don't know/Have no opinion

Please spread the word about it. Send 'em to ncc-1776.org to cast their opinion upon the eWaters. So to speak.

(Don't forget L. Neil Smith's novel Ceres is being published on the web, with a new chapter every Monday:

Toward a Police Reform Movement
by L. Neil Smith
When you see three police cars pulled over at the side of a city street to deal with a single bicycle rider, you know there are too many cops. When all the heroes on TV carry badges and a government franchise, you know we're in real trouble as a culture. Every day we hear of some act of brutality—people beaten and kicked when they're unconscious, or "Tased" until they die—carried out by federal, state, or local "law enforcement" (a terrible misnomer, since most of the laws enforced today are unconstitutional, and therefore unlawful in themselves) against individuals or groups whose only crime was the exercise of their unalienable individual, civil, Constitutional, and human rights. "Policemen" at every level of government have become, more than any mere military organization, the "standing army" hated and feared by America's Founder Fathers.

Expatriation Thoughts: Should I Stay Or Should I Go?
by Russell D. Longcore
In 1742, a man, his wife and infant child in Rengsdorf, Germany made a decision to move. He packed what belongings he could and they boarded a boat that took them down the Rhine River to Rotterdam. There, they boarded a ship named Phoenix and set sail for the American Colonies. They landed at the port of Philadelphia and went ashore. From there, the little family settled in Sussex County in the northern part of New Jersey. Once settled, he set about his new life and the couple had another eight children.

Divestment Works
by Jim Davidson
When I met Rick Maybury in July 2000 he was speaking at the world congress of the International Society for Individual Liberty. If you haven't been to one, you should make plans to visit Panama next Summer. Sandy Sandfort and I are putting one together, and I think it'll be a lot of fun.

"Take My DNA—I Have Not Committed Any Crimes"
by Doug Newman
I was going back and forth on a discussion thread the other evening and someone made the above remark. My first thought was to quote my favorite motivational speaker, Matt Foley: "Well la-de-frigging-daaaaaaa." Such is the nonchalance with which so many Americans are relinquishing what is left of their liberty.

How to Deal With Provocateurs
by Paul Bonneau
Some of you administer or moderate forums, or will some day. If the forum is freedom-oriented, you will certainly run into members who are real jerks, either those who receive a government paycheck, or free-lance jerks such as trolls. For this article we can throw them all into the category "provocateur". This how-to may apply to other internet media such as blogs.

Organization Theory, by Kevin A. Carson
A Book Review by Sean Gabb
I will begin my review by stating its main conclusions. These are that Kevin Carson has written one of the most significant books the libertarian movement has seen in many years. I do not agree with everything he says here. I do not suppose any libertarian will unreservedly accept what is said. Even so, I doubt if there is a libertarian who can read this book and not, in some degree, have his vision of a free society enriched and even transformed by it.

Racism
by A.X. Perez
When I was a kid racism was an easy issue to understand. Members of the "majority" enjoyed more wealth, power, privileges, and status than members of the "minority (ies)." Force, either officially sanctioned or at least officially ignored, was used to keep members of the minority groups in their place. Majority and minority were expected to live in segregation. Minority members who got uppity were beaten back into place or even killed. Majority members who got too friendly with minority members were sanctioned.

What May be Expected of a Three Trillion Dollar Deficit?
by Jim Davidson
What is the budget deficit? Simply put, it is the amount the national government spends above the amount it brings in to the general fund by stealing. Taxation is theft.
