All the years that I've lived in the southern part of
Stalag California, I've been aware that there are a large number of Jewish
people here. I became even more aware during my twelve-year
relationship with a lovely Jewish woman who hails from New York City.
Even though she was secular, she introduced me to parts of the Jewish
communities in New York, Miami, San Diego and Los Angeles. I met
bankers, tax accountants, attorneys, retired folks, entertainers and
storekeepers.

The Bloody Sun

My addiction to science fiction goes back to the early-mid
Sixties. Like many who got started on SF back then I discovered Andre Norton
and one of the first books I read by her was Starman's Son (AKA
Daybreak 2250 AD). It got me started on the literature of those who
didn't quite belong in the world they were born into, the people who had to
overcome exclusion, the people who had to face the difference between
professed values and and the way society actually worked. In a word, it
left me, like I'm sure it left others, predisposed to hear the libertarian message.

Partisan Hypocrisy

Towards the end of Ronald Reagan's administration, the Democrats
moaned and groaned about the large deficit that he was leaving behind. This
was also the case during George W. Bush's last days in the White House.
Not that the criticism wasn't warranted, debt is never a good thing for
any economy. The real issue is why the Democrats seem to ignore the
trillions of dollars that is being wasted by Obama's stimulus plan.
There doesn't seem to be an end to his spending spree since he keeps
sinking more money into failing industries. Obama also plans to spend
billions of more tax dollars on his so-called universal healthcare
plan, which will probably end up being a universal failure. This
administration has the worst economic policies that this country has
ever seen. That hasn't stopped the support from Obama's fellow
Democrats, who apparently think it's a good idea to keep borrowing
money from China. This fits the vary definition of hypocrisy.

A new and dangerous form of swine flu has erupted like a
plague. Though its been growing for decades like a cancer it is even worse.
It is more dangerous in that it disguises itself as a cure making it
the most dangerous disease we face. It has now become a virulent
epidemic resembling elephantiasis. Though elephants have been blamed
for the outbreak of the disease there are other sources such as
donkeys and pigs. This form comes from both elephants and donkeys but
is called swinish flu for the buy-partisan reason that both elephants
and donkeys can get pork from it. They sty-me attempts to pen it. Now
everyone seems to be succumbing to it.
