THE CURRENT ISSUE

EDITORIAL MATTERS:

Greetings, Readers! This is going to be a short issue, on account of I'm ground-down by all this here manual labour I've been doing. I can remember when I was young and could do manual labour alla time. Now, it like to near kills me. Ah well, being a home owner means yer gotta do a certain amount of maintenance, and if you put it off long enough it's a large amount of maintenance, and if yer kinda broke, you just have to do it yerself. I do think I'm going to spend the coming winter using the ol' excercise machine to get into a bit better shape for the finishing-up of the maintenance next spring. Yep. Yep. You betcha.

So, anyway, like I said before, short issue this time, and I've a good bunch of articles, letters, and stuff that came in this week for next time. Thank You! to all our Contributors (y'all are Supporters too!). Thank You! to our Supporters! Thank You! to the Academy! (Plato's Academy, that is!)

Why I think the Covenant is more important than the Constitution
A call for articles from other Signatories

by Dennis Lee Wilson
The excerpt from "Question Authority" (attached below) summarizes why I think it important to explore the virtues and possible applications of the Covenant of Unanimous Consent and why I no longer spend creative energy dreaming up ways to improve or enforce the unenforceable and defunct U.S. Constitution.

Stop Saying "Please"!
by Larken Rose
Imagine a slave who, while being whipped, cries out, "Please, massa, no more!" What message does such a plea for mercy convey? Obviously, it conveys a desire for the beating to stop, but it also conveys another message—albeit an unstated one: "Master, I accept that it is up to YOU whether I am to be beaten or not."

That Sinking GM Feeling
by Jim Davidson
They used to advertise "that great GM feeling." Nowadays it seems more like "that sinking GM feeling." Case in point, car-neophyte Ed Whiteacre's current ad campaign. "Car for car when compared to the competition, we win. Simple as that," he says in this bright new ad promoting his complete ignorance about automobiles.
