The New AARP

Yep, the heck with the ultra liberal old AARP (American Association for Retired People).

I joined the NEW AARP:

The NEW AARP

Let me get this straight. Obama's health care plan will be written by a committee whose Chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress which hasn't read it, signed by a President who smokes, funded by a Treasury Chief who did not pay his taxes, overseen by a Surgeon General who is obese, and financed by a country that is nearly broke.

What could possibly go wrong?

See:

She's evil enough without having to misrepresent her.

  • Voted YES on $15B bailout for GM and Chrysler. (Dec 2008)
  • Voted YES on $60B stimulus package for jobs, infrastructure, & energy. (Sep 2008)

I would like to hear your hypotheses on the sources of the self- loathing, and what the double-blind psychological experimental setup would look like that could falsify them. To what extent is it driven by instinct, and what by culture? If a tribe of 150 extropian libertarians are transported to Gilligan's Dome on Mars, then where does the self-loathing reappear? Would the first-broadcast rights of The Real World: Mars pay the lift bill? Or, how about Spice Rapid Prototyping?

Dancing with the devil

In the 1990's the Pakistani government helped the Taliban rise to prominence in Afghanistan. In return the Taliban helped the Pakistanis in their efforts to wrest the Kashmir Valley from India. Now the Pakistani government is at war with the Taliban. They have expressed concern that if the US takes the actions needed to win in Afghanistan (read: buy the existing government enough time to stabilize itself sufficiently to where we can get out with "honor") we will drive the Taliban into Pakistan and threaten the rulers there power even worse.

For years Mexican politicians got rich accepting bribes from drug smugglers. Besides paying the cops to leave them alone the narcos used their profits to raise and arm armies. Now the Mexican government is in danger of losing sovereignty in several of its cities and one Ciudad Juarez has become as deadly as Iraq and Afghanistan. The city is not only deadly, the drug dealers shooters have taken to kidnapping people for profit and shaking down small businesses for protection, The result has been people going out of business or relocating in neighboring El Paso.

There was a saying popular at the beginning of the Millennium: Dance with the Devil and you don't lead, he does. Many years a priest told the story of two little old ladies who threw food to the rats in their basement to get them to stay there. The results were predictable.

What rats are in America's basement? Which devils are our elected and appointed misleaders dancing with?

Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to stop the music and call the exterminator.

The Stealth Takeover

In primis, accept my apologies for the typos that got into the last article I sent to TLE. Dang computer started doing its own thing and what got sent in isn't what I typed. Honest.

In secundis, to be honest, Muslims don't need no stinking terrorist attacks or Jihads to take over the US. Take a look at the percentage of visas given to Pakistani and other students from countries with Jihadist problems to study math and engineering. Take a look at how many exemptions from immigration quota we are granting to Muslims to pick up jobs in electrical engineering, computer science, and so on.

"You must face Mecca and make the Profession of Faith before the ATM will accept your pin."

I am not calling for excluding these guys, by the way. I'm just saying that it's time we start producing more students in this country who are properly educated in math and hard sciences and ready to take the jobs associated with these skills.

Or else plan omn learning how to read Chinese and Arabic when our new masters come in and insist we learn their languages.

In tertiis, the above again is not a rant against international trade, any nation, religion or ethnic group, but rather a warning that we can no longer afford education (public, private, or homeschooling) that fails to ground people in the "left brain" subjects. Besides leaving us vulnerable to other nations economically, this leads to an ignorance of science that leads to unbridled Fundamentalism in all religions, an inability to distinguish between science and pseudoscience, and a substitution of other people's mystic experiences for using our own ability to use empiricism and reason to learn the truth.

It leaves us and our children without one of the most essential tools to protect our liberties and to recognize and fend off would be tyrants.

Hope I got the case for topic headers right.

It is now becoming apparent that Barack Obama will not live up to the expectations put on him by his followers. This is not a criticism of the president, as these expectations were both inappropriate and excessively high. In fact, from the point of view of this writer he still hasn't been as bad as I expected. Still, he has been in office such a short time.

Nevertheless, I predict that Mr. Obama will be dumped in 2012 in favor of a Latino candidate whose name indicates he can live up to expectations. While I am not certain of his surname I know that his followers will call him "Chuy."*
