The Myth of the "Good Cop"
Attribute to The Libertarian Enterprise "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other, or he will hold to the one, and despise the other." Matthew 6: 24 In the discussions raging among the Canadian people in the aftermath of the latest outrage in the case of the murder of Mr Robert Dziekanski, the occasional comment is made to the effect that, while the RCMP murder of an innocent man is reprehensible, one should not blame all the cops because of "a few bad apples", et cetera. [note to American readers: do an online search of the following: "Robert Dziekanski", "Paul Pritchard", and "Braidwood Inquiry" for an informative and horrifying look at the state of the police state in Canada.] The case is made that "most cops" are fine, dedicated chaps who go about doing their jobs conscientiously. It's pointed out that many cops take part in charity drives and coach kids' hockey teams, et cetera. They are often good husbands and fathers (or wives and mothers) and pillars of their churches and/or community associations, we are told. It's all true, too. Allow me, however, to comment on those truths... First, the cops are paidand handsomely, tooby our confiscated tax dollarsbut they are anything but our "public servants". They are beholden only to the government which employs them with our funds. Since we Canadians cannot withhold their pay cheques, they laugh at the assertion that they are our "servants". They know better, and so should we. If and when the State says, "Get 'em, boys!" they attack without question or thought. That's what they signed up for and they all know it. So should we. Their conspicuous participation in charity drives is always promoted with great fanfare and fawning admiration by the MSM and, of course, the police departments themselves. Perhaps I am cynical, but when people stand on their rooftops and yell about how charitable they are I cant help but wonder whether their main concern is charity or self-promotional PR stunts. Since even what little money they contribute from "their own pockets" originated in our wallets, I am even less impressed by their "generosity". They're no different from their politician masters in that regard. I work part-time for a private retail business, and I have discovered over the years that they very quietly make huge donations to a variety of good causes. I have learnt this from members of recipient organisations coming into our store and praising the owners' donations of time and money to their causes. It isn't publicised, just done. That's yet another difference between government parasites and free marketeers. Many professions give to charity; they don't all boast about it as a group, though. So much for cops being good members of the community. Many people coach kids' sports, too, not just some cops. I'm sure that Mafiosi lend a hand in their kids' athletic endeavours, too. And the Mafia, just like the cops, are frequently good family men and church goers. So what?! The Nazis and Soviets, though atheists, were often dedicated to their families. Do we really believe Hollywood's portrayals of the Third Reich's cops as being monolithically, universally, robotically goose-stepping monsters? Do we doubt that many of them were devoted family men? Even some of the mid-level Nazi party leaders went to church and were good neighbours. Again, so bloody what?! The point of this portrayal of cops as just a lot of nice people who happen to be in an organisation which, like any other, has a few "bad apples" is to make excuses for and to distract from their complicity in the criminal activities of those apples. For, no matter what horrors the police commit in Canada or the USA, you never hear of the "majority of good cops" speaking out against them. The cops, like the Mafia, the KGB, the Gestapo and all the other minions of the State throughout history, close ranks against the citizenry. "Cops don't 'rat out' other cops," they say, and it's true. Cops who are allegedly not "on the take" don't refuse their cut of the rake-off, either. One for all and all for one... Not a single member of the RCMP has so much as squeaked a word of protest against the killing of Robert Dziekanski in the 3½ years since that murder was captured on a bystander's cell phone camera. Not a single RCMP has resigned in protest. And not a single one likely ever will, either. If there really were "a majority of good cops" out there, we would be rid of all the "bad" ones in a week. The occasional honest naif may become a cop, but he won't remain one for long unless he sells his soul to the State, too. The sad truth is that the police are the worst group of organised gangs in North America today. They are not in our control but in that of their true masters, the bureaucrats and politicians of The Almighty Damned State, and they are increasingly as contemptuous of the citizenry and our rights as are their masters. Only when communities disband the State and its bullying goons in uniform will society be able to enjoy the blessings of... ...Peace and Liberty.
