TRAGEDAIRY: (noun) A well known past tragic event which is regularly 'milked' or exploited for political purposes. Generally in ways which will impose on the rights and freedoms of ordinary people, and which are represented as supposedly being necessary to prevent similiar tragic events in the future; but which in actuality will either have no effect on preventing such events, or will actually increase the severity and frequency of such events.
