I bring up this quote to draw attention to the fact that for at least two millennia you don't build houses on sand foundations if you mean them to stand. You're a gone gump if you do. Beach front property is an example of house on a sand foundation. John Stoessel discussed how he collected government subsidized insurance several times see [link] for one review of this discussion). He was not confessing to hypocrisy so much as pointing out that the Government subsidizes stupidity. His point was that if you subsidize stupidity you encourage stupidity, even allow it. Like treason it prospers until none call it by name. Do you really want a government that encourages stupidity?
