Tribal chieftains, kings, ministers, politicians, bureaucrats, and
union leaders are mere parasites, scavengers, bottom-feeders who take
advantage of the common individual's simple, commendable desire to
improve his or her place in life and build a better future for his or
her children. Those virtues the criminal scum label "selfishness" and
condemn.

Down With Power!
Down With Power!
HOW TO FIX AMERICA

NOT IN SIX CENTURIES

NOT IN SIX DECADES

NOT IN SIX YEARS

BUT IN JUST SIX MONTHS!

Yes, the principles enumerated in L. Neil Smith's Down With Power, properly applied, will make a visible difference in America's condition in just 180 days!

While we wait months and years for the swift recovery that's in America's power, the con-game—played against us by government, corporations, and unions—goes on.

Stop the con-game. Read L. Neil Smith's Down With Power, available from Amazon.com, BarnesAndNoble.com, and other sources, in trade paperback and e-book editions.

EDITORIAL MATTERS:

A NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER

Rhymes With "Studly"

Dear Family and Fiends (you know who you are),

I sent the following reply to a national Second Amendment organization, in response to their asking me for money. Again. I don't have much money, what I have is ideas that occasionally turn out to be worthwhile. My message to them bounced—again—proving they aren't interested in anything but cash.

So for everybody else, here's the tip I offered them for free:

Never refer to that famous international organization in New York City without somehow making reference to the fact that much of its leadership and most of its allies subscribe to the ecofascist notion that there are too many people on Earth, and that the population must be reduced to 1/10 of what it is today.

They want to kill 6,300,000,000 people, and disarming them first only makes sense.

So it's "the genocidal United Nations" and "the mass-murdering UN", whenever, say, mention of their vicious victim disarmament "treaties" arises.

Once everybody knows that meme, that'll be the end of them.

As for that organization that only wants my money, they can kiss my rubber buttpad.

And the editor sez:

I want to take this space to wish all of our readers a very good Thanksgiving Feast. And do try to think of something to be thankful for—it will be good for your health! (I just had my doctor say I'd certainly start feeling better if I would just stop paying attention to the news! The thing is, he's right!)

Look for the Union Label
by L. Neil Smith
A friend of mine from England, who came to the States to fulfill a childhood dream—to become a stockbroker—used to tell me the story of a British manufacturer. At a point in history when the net contribution of a factory worker in that country—the amount of value he added to the materials he started with—was negative, the desperate owner decided to introduce an interesting concept: profit sharing.

I Build a House Home
by A.X. Perez
I am not flogging religion. I bring up this quote to draw attention to the fact that for at least two millennia you don't build houses on sand foundations if you mean them to stand. You're a gone gump if you do. Beach front property is an example of house on a sand foundation.

When Will our Email Betray Us? An Email Privacy Primer in Light of the Petraeus Saga
by Hanni Fakhoury, Kurt Opsahl, and Rainey Reitman
The unfolding scandal that led to the resignation of Gen. David Petraeus, the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, started with some purportedly harassing emails sent from pseudonymous email accounts to Jill Kelley. After the FBI kicked its investigation into high gear, it identified the sender as Paula Broadwell and, ultimately, read massive amounts of private email messages that uncovered an affair between Broadwell and Petraeus (and now, the investigation has expanded to include Gen. John Allen's emails with Kelley). We've received a lot of questions about how this works—what legal process the FBI needs to conduct its email investigation. The short answer? It's complicated.

The unabridged audio version of my 1983 novel The Nagasaki Vector, brilliantly read by the great libertarian radio host Brian Wilson, is finally available for purchase.

Many feel that this is the funniest book I've written so far—at least intentionally—and features our old friend Win Bear, G. Howell Nahuatl, a sapient coyote, time traveler Bernie Gruenblum, and Georgie, the time machine who loves him.
