A Recommndation to the Editor Dear Ken, For some time I have been receiving e-mail from a fellow who calls himself "Dr. Duck". The good doctor appears to be a conservative of the sort libertarians would be happy to converse with over a beer or nine, and I almost always enjoy what he sends out into the world. Dr. Duck is also an enterprising individual who has created a concept and a website called "Duck's Deluxe" that is thoroughly worth spending time with, especially if you like guitar music or are a guitarist, yourself. He advertises a lot of nifty products there I'm anxious to try out, as I live almost entirely surrounded by guitars I haven't bothered to count in decades. But most of all, I want to recommend the doctor's radio show, "Dr. Duck's Guitar Prescription", wherein, every Saturday night, he spins the greatest guitar music ever recorded and does many other interesting things. You can listen at 8:00 PM Pacific time (he's in Las Vegas) on KUNV, 91.5 FM on your radio dial if you're in town, or streamed worldwide from kunv.org on your computer if you're not. Another FM station, 96.3, plays and streams the program an hour later at lvclassicrock.com. Dr. Duck also maintains an extensive collection of recordings of his program you can listen to any time you want. And, of course, there are always the Ducky Girls. Was that worth reading? Dear Neil and Ken, Consider one of the health "alternatives" that far too many people just don't even think about these days... taking charge of one's own health and wellness. Most modern illnesses are the result of stress, poor diet, lifestyle, substance abuse, and the ingestion of massive amounts of chemical "medicine" that almost invariably does more harm than good. I almost died (long story) before I realized that all that was completely within my own control. I stopped taking the pills, stopped going to the doctors (going on 8 years now), pursue a much healthier (no, not perfect) lifestyle and diet... and I am much happier and in better health than I've been since I was a teen. Now, at 66, I'll go to a doctor if I break something, or spring a major leak, but not for much else. And there are/will always be doctors who are willing to work outside the system. www.aapsonline.org
As a former western medicine health care provider... an RN for 30 years, I have an excellent idea what "medicine" was in the past, and a crystal clear picture of where it's going. The trick is simply not to go along. The doctors and nurses (and many others) who understand that are leaving the sinking ship as fast as they can. They know they can't save the dying monster, no matter what they do. Soon, the only ones left will be the helplessly debt ridden cowards who can't see a way out, and the incompetent or downright evil ones who glory in their CONTROL. Control your own health. It works. It's possible. And it may soon be the only rational option, no matter what your health problems might be. Sad, but there it is... Love, Mama Liberty

Is it me or are the people who are excoriating Baby Bush for the Iraq War: A: The same people that egged him on to start it and cheerleaded the early part of its prosecution until they were exposed to the harsh lesson that sometimes it's easier to win a war than make the post war peace work? Especially with the likes of Rumfield and Cheney trying to use Iraq as an abattoir to slaughter terrorists regardless of how many Iraqi civilians got killed in the crossfire and how unstable peace in Iraq would thus become. B: The same people that are beating the war drums for a US intervention in Syria with an option to get a war going with Iran? Finally I have to ask, am I being paranoid to see this pattern and am I the only one? Crazy Al Crazy Al resides in an idealized Far West Texas that was long ago bulldozed to build more parking lots and has plenty of bookstores, reliable privately owned mass transportation, and uses honest silver and gold money.
