Secrets of Ceres

Some of my readers are aware that I use photos of real live human beings to stay focused on the characters in my books. In my little novel The WarDove, for example, the band at the center of the story was pretty obviously Fleetwood Mac, and the singer our hero Nathaniel Blackburn fell in love with was based on Stevie Nicks.

I know lots of people like to generate images in their own heads when they read a book like my novel Ceres. I respect that, and this message isn't for them. But enough time has passed now, that other people might be interested to see the pictures representing the book's female characters (I seldom use them for my male characters). Some you'll recognize and some you won't. You can find them all at http://www.lneilsmith.org/ceres-ares-gallery.html

Ceres a finalist for last year's Prometheus Award, and what I think is my best work so far, is available at Amazon.com, B&N.com, and other such fine places, in both dead-tree nd e-book format.

Too Stupid For Words

Donald Rumsfeld is now saying that Afghanistan "Is not combat as such". Seems like it to me. I thought he couldn't get any stupider than his "You go to war with the Army you have" speech. He and Pat Robertson actually have a lot in common. Neither one knows when to keep his mouth shut.
